Ebay bow scam.
I have been browsing ebay for a good price on a Mathews Switchback for a couple of months now. The other day I found a nice bow that was just what I was looking for with a buy it now for just under $300.00. Well I purchased the bow after checking out the guys feedback, which wasn't bad at all. I had a hard time to believe the price, but it was comming from the UK and thought maybe prices are different over there. I was wrong. I fell into a trap, so if anyone out there spot's a bow on ebay from another country with a buy it now at an outragious price, DON'T BID!!! The same guy that I bought the bow from had a couple of bows that day for sale all at outragious prices so instead of being happy with one, I had to have two.I felt like astupid idiot . Thankfully I was able to get my money back with a ton of phone calls to paypal and my bank. This is just a heads up to all you guys that like a good deal on ebay like I do. I believe most of the auctions are from good people, but if a deal seems too good to be true it probably is.

RE: Ebay bow scam.
I've had lots of trouble buying stuff on ebay. Mostly people misrepresenting what they have. Paypal sucks. I'm surprised you got someone on the phone and that you got any help from them.

RE: Ebay bow scam.
That sucks! I bought my first bow on their, an Oneida Eagle, and it was used. The person who was selling it hadn't bowhunted before and was selling it for her dad. Anyway, you couldn't tell from the pic but there was tape around the grip, the string was frayed, the whole back of the case was cracked, anyway I am not buying from ebay again.

RE: Ebay bow scam.
If I can't hold it in my hand first you probably will not be getting my money. Maybe if it is an item I just can't buy in a store, but so far I have not found anything I needed that I couldn't just go buy.
Ebay doesn't always suck though. My Dad and his wife buy and sell things all the time on Ebay and don't seem to have too much trouble. Paul |
RE: Ebay bow scam.
I recently bought a bow on Ebay and am very happy with it.
That being said i also noticed a number of scammers trying to sell bows with stolen user I.D.'s. I have seen the same in the tractor section. I don't think a teenager in britain would be selling a tractor in south dakota.:) A little research goes a long way. As with everywhere let the buyer beware, and if it looks to good to be true then it probably is. Also the pound is very strong against the dollar right now. |

I've done over 150 transactions on ebay and never had a problem. I"m very careful about who I buy from though...

RE: Ebay bow scam.
That eBay scam has been going on for a while. Like you said, the guy is selling multiple bows very cheep. Think about it, why a guy would dump a bunch of bows like that. Hard up, stolen or he is scamming you[/b]. Hint 2 was it was outside of the USA, this should always raise a question in your mind.
If you find a deal that sounds to good to be true try this. Email the person and see if they would sell it COD if you pay the cod charge. That if far! But just remember open the box before the delivery guy leaves. That way you don’t get a box with a 2x4 in it. I seen mathews switchback XT fully set up with case in the summer. I emailed the seller with the cod offer more then once. I never heard back from him, so I sent ebay an email telling them that this seller might not be on the up and up. Some one beat me to the punch and told them the same thing and the seller was removed before my letter was read. |
