How High Do You Hunt Mostly?

Just wondering how high y'all like to hunt in your tree stands. Personally, I mostly hunt 16 - 20 ft.

I try for 20 feet on all of mine, and if I can I put it on a hill and save a few tree pegs.

I would say mostly 21-25. But since I use a climber most of the time, it variesbecause of the trees in the area. Sometimes higher sometimes not that high.

I generally hunt from 20-26ft. up which is just right for my area. I find that sometimes if you get too high that shot placement becomes extremely critical the higher you go leaving very little margin for error and secondly sometimes if i you get too high you can be even more skylined then if your only 15 ft. up a tree. My rule is you want to be as high as the most amount of cover whether it be 12ft. or 30.

Most of the time I'm over twenty to twenty five but I remember one time I was thirtytwo feet up.

I've moved up this year to at least 18 but no higher than 20.
At 15-16 after leaf drop I got picked off from 50 + yards.

18 - 20 worked great this year.

WOW! I think you could finish peeing from your stand before it hits the ground .... but that is another thread ...:D

Another instance where I probably over estimate. How high do three Lone Wolf strap on steps get you when you have an 36" inseam?

Then I went an bought three more. I used 5 on one tree last year with a couple of branches thrown in! One of the most intense days I have ever had hunting as I had a group of deer bedded under me for hours!

I haven't used all six......., yet!:D

I'm around 20 feet or higher. Depending on cover when I'm low about 15. 20 or higher is safe from detection by deer. I just dont want to spook the big one when he comes around.

PT....this is one of those questions in bowhunting that seems to make bowhunters try and see who can pee highest on the wall. The other ones are bow poundage and shot distances (among many others).

Just get good cover and get out of their thermals and don't worry about how high you are. My son reads stuff like this....and I'm glad I've taught him better.

I'm still wondering how a man can SAFELY set climbing sticks and a hang on stand and get to 30' without being totally drenched in sweat and not risking life and limb in under 30 minutes. Also.....just doing common math.....how many sets of sticks would that take????

Jeff, .. let's see ...30 / 4 = at least seven! heh heh heh.:D

I am with you bro, I have been 10' in a tall pine woods and could not be seen by man nor beast! I know there are alot of guys that have a comfortable hight they like to be at ... each situation has it's requirements.

16-20 depending on the tree, sometimes only as high as 8-10 feet. You dont always need to get high to get big mature bucks.
