Default Thanksgiving Morning wasn't quite a bust!! Pict!!

Well my Thanksgiving didn't turn out like last year, but it was a decent morning none the less.

Farily early in the morning, about 15 minutes after shooting light, 2 coyotes come by me in the bean field. The caught me by suprise and couldn't get a shot right away. I did a little kissing sound with my mouth and the first one turned around and came right back, but he caught me drawing back my bow. So I sat back down to wait. About a half hour later here come a different coyote from the directino the other 2 went. This coyote is a real light colored one. She was heading away and wasn't giving me a shot so I made a little mouth noise and she turned and came up the trail. She just wouldn't stop trotting. Finally I got her to stop at 30. I let the ole mathews rip its lightning bolt and managed to take her. Then about another 45 minutes a 4th one came by, but she didn't offer a shot. Here is the picture. You can't tell that she was light colored because she jumped in the creek and died.

Nice shot IBM. That's a lot of a coyotes in
one morning on stand. I've never seen more
than two, during any one time on stand.
I got only one shot at a 'yote this fall,
and I shot right under him at 30 yards...
the scent he left did help me out with
the buck I shot that morning though. Good
luck on getting that bow tag filled, hope
to hear a story posted soon!

Great job of calling them back to ya. I would like to get a shot at the one that ran across my clearing last year, it was a black yote. Had a shot at a lighter colored one a week ago, but there was still plenty of deer light left and it was moving on through, so I let it go.

The best of luck in all your hunting endeavors!!!

God Bless,
Dave

Excellent job - just getting a coyote into bow range is an accomplishment, scoring a fatal hit on one is the challange. Congratulations.

Well I guess to add to the story a little.

After I managed to get the shot on her and she took off running, a little 5 point buck jumped out of the bushes right by her. I was looking in that direction not but 20 seconds before I shot the yote and he wasn't to be seen. He was to small of a buck for me to shoot, even as desperate as I am. I have set my standard bigger than a 1-1/2 year old buck or yearling. I think the buck probably busted me when I was making all of the noise trying to get the yote to come my way and stop. Cuz when he jumped from the bushes, he didn't watch the coyote, he was looking at me. Oh well, guess I will hunt a different stand for a while.

There is a really light colored one in the area, almost white. I am not sure if this one is it or not. When it was dry, it looked really light colored. But one less coyote is a good thing.

Next thing I need to do is walk the area sometime this week. 4 coyotes in one little area in one morning, smells like something dead to me. My buddy found some poop with deer hair in it. Maybe that buck I shot came back onto this property to die a few days later. Never know!!
