craziest thing?

what is the craziest thing that has happened (or has ever happened) at your school? the reason i ask is cause today some kid pulled a knife on another kid and stabbed him in the stomach. we have 4 cops in our school with 2,000 kids. me personally i think its dumb. iwas about 5 seconds from seein the whole thing. ihad just turned the corner and i heard a lot ofscreaming comin from where i had just came from and ifigured it was just the freaks in our school likenormal but then some kid came into class and said there was blood everywhere and another one came in andsaid someone got stabbed. then the teacher kinda explained stuff to us and then we were under lockdown for a littleover an hour. it was crazy. it just kinda hits home a little more when it happens that close to you. heres the link to the whole news thing.

Things have changed since I was in school, but I can remember two that stand out pretty clearly. A race induced fight that involved nearly the entire student body when I was in Jr. High, it all started between a redneck and a hood and was fueled by rumors that one guy's relatives were in the KKK. The school had a 7th grade hall and an 8th grade hall with the cafeteria on one end and the gym on the other. There was a big open yard in between the entire school that held the biggest fight you'd probably ever see in Jr High. One color to each hallway for the rest of the week. The other is when nearly 50 members of the High School band were charged with shoplifting at a major resort. The band took a yearly trip to march in a parade at a big, popular place down south. Two sophomores got caught shoplifting in one of the stores at another attraction and ratted out another, that one another....all the way down the line. The band ended up not being invited back for many years after and was even told they were never welcome as a group again at one of the places. Every member's room was searched and I think there was over $5000 worth of stuff that was recovered that was taken from two resorts, local stores and even a few truck stops they stopped at on the way down.

Stabbings and shootings are crazy. In the old days we fought it out during school and got in-school suspension where we usually ended up going at it a little more or we met up down the road after school and fought it out off campus. Either way, no weapons and rarely more than two people throwing punches. My how things went down hill about 1985 when gangsta rap started to get big....damn Easy E and NWA.

Waaaaaayyy...back when I was in Jr High, we use to have a Phantom Sh!tter.

Every once in a while there would be a pile laying in the hallway. Between classes everyone would be pointing and laughing as they made their way down the hall to the next class.

No one could ever figure out who it was.

LMAO....See thats the problem with people today. They run out of funny things to do to get attention so they end up doing stupid things that hurt/injure people. I hate to say it but it's also that kids arent being raised the same as they were when my parents were brought up.

The bad thing is that it's only going to get worse. Just wait until these students have kids of their own in school. It was a lot better when a good fist fight could settle anything.

I also remember something that you don't see today in schools that should be there. Every classroom in my Jr high had a nail on the wall with a paddle hanging from it. I'm not talking anything small either, these things were built for speed and (dis)comfort. All were made from 2x6s with the handles cut out, rounded and smoothed and three rows of half inch holes drilled down the length and sanded out to prevent wind resistance. The softball coach hand one with a longer handle to swing like a bat, the rest of the women used to just get the man teaching the class next door. I know the specs because everyone in school had to take at least one semester of wood shop and churning them out was one of the projects. I can speak from experience, kids were a lot less mouthy back then than they are today. And I also discovered the meaning of one my father's statements...Be good or be good at it. I learned to be good at a all of things to avoid those chunks of wood, and if I couldn't get away with it, I didn't do it.

ya it kinda sucks cause ive watched like 3 drug deals, a couple fights, and 2 kids get taken out in cuffs, and ive only been at the school for a semester cause im a freshman. even the seniors say that it is by far the most "exciting" year they have ever had there. the kid that did it had a huge record at the school and he is a freshman too. he just got back from like 2 weeks of suspensions and he stabs a kid over some UGLY chick. he screwed up his life bigtime. the other kid should be fine.

Wow. I really worry about my kids getting into school. If it is this bad now where will be at in 10 years.

Home schooling is a tremendously rewarding experience for all involved!

When I went to school we had plastic utensils because a pack of girls jumped on a guy and stabbed him repeatedly with forks. That was 35 years ago. Things have changed, but I don't think they are worse today then anytime in the past.

Was in a small town gas station shortly after graduation. As I stood there waiting, I looked at a bulletin board, there, as bold as you please, were applications for the KKK. The applications aren't there anymore, but the town still gives me the creeps.

Each generation has it's own problems!

I liked the post about making paddles in school. Our shop teacher made one every year just to show us how to saw. I remember a bunch of us getting in trouble in his class one day. He lined about 5 of us up for the rest of the class to watch us get our butts spanked. When he spanked my friend before my turn, the paddle split down the middle so it was only 2 inches wide. Then my friend turns around to the teacher laughing and said it didn't hurt. I wish he wouldn't have done that because the teacher was fuming and man I can still feel the sting of that narrow paddle.

so you are saying that you are friends with drug dealers? as far as im concerned thats not exactly funny. i stay away from that stuff because 1. i know how much it can screw you up. 2. i know what it will do to my football career at the high school.

me and a buddy that goes to the same school i do were talking to a state cop that was helping us pour concrete and he told us that he knew that one day they (cops) were gonna get a call about a shooting/stabbing because he knew what the school was like and then sure enough a couple months later this happens. its seriously getting to the point that kids are almost scared crapless to go to school. they dont do any searches or metal detectors or anything when we come in in the morning. there is almost never even a teacher at the door in the mornings. now with 2,000 kids i know that there isnt a whole lot they can do but it seems like they could at least act like they are trying. the principal came on the PA about a half hour after the stabbing and hes like "we want to assure you that our number one priorty is your safety". im like ya it really shows now doesnt it? 4 cops for 2,000 kids and you dont do anything to make sure nobody brings anything and some kid just got stabbed. now thats not what i call reassuring! sorry for the long post, just venting.
