1st buck returned after 8 years
 

After an 8 year period my first mount from my first white tail buck I shot with a bow was finally returned to me. I shot this buck I 1998. The first year I could really get into bow hunting. I got married in 1999 and divorced about a year and a half later. It was a very messy seperation for only being married a short time with no kids. Anyway this rack was one of the items that "was lost". I had moved to an apartment and figured I would get it later. It didn't happen.

So fast forward to Tuesday. I am sitting in my office at work and I get a phone to telling me that I have a package for me in the shipping department. That happends all the time. So I drive around and get the package and put it in my truck. I had kind of forgot about it until I stopped at my cabin to pick up a load of wood to bring home on thursday. I look in the back and there is this box. I bring it into the cabin and I figure I better see what it is. I open it up and and there was a note on top of the peanuts and said " I thought you might want this back, Sorry". So I reach in and there it was, the first buck I shot with a bow. I thoughtI would never see it again. I know it isn't the biggest butit sure meant a lot to me. I thought I would share this with the rest of my bowhunting family. I have added a pic with my boys who are 4 and 6. They wanted to see their pic posted.For those of you keeping a time line I adopted my boys a couple years ago.

I still see her mother a lot. She is widowed so i make sure I send some of my maint. guys over to cut lawn and shovel snow. She is a very nice lady and I have no hard feelings against her daughter. Don't worry I will write a thank you note.

That is a great buck and two very handsom boys, you can still get a full mount on that if you ever want to. the taxi's carry extra capes all the time.

Your mount look's great ,and I'm sure happy you got it back ,just when you figured it was lost for ever and it show's up that's great . It doesn't matter how bifg it is ,but it was your first trophy.

I believe her mother took care of getting it back for me. I am thankful, but not thankfull enought to revisit the past for ole time sake. That was a good one though. I wish her all the best but would rather never see her again.

As for the shoulder mount,I wanted nothing more then to get one. I was however over ruled. The deer was missing its left eye and much of its one ear. Scars all over the face. Just a ton of character. I was weak back then but I may still get a cape for it and finda good tax to fix it up. I plan to take the mount to the whitetail classic and have it score this Feb. I have always wanted to get that done.

I willtry and look for it at the classic, as I'm planning on attending it this year myself. it"s the first time in about 9 years that I don't have to work that weekend. Congratulations on the return of it.Mark
