Custom Strings/Cables
 

Well guys, I talked to my dealer earlier...

If I take them my bow and expect them to talk to their sales rep and get everything fixed, it could be up to two weeks before things are squared away. Iwould like to have it done before that, which is why I'm considering buying a custom set and just having those put on.

Who should I go with (and why)and how long do you usually wait before your strings arrive?

Tell them you will need a loaner bow till they get yours fixed...:) I don't know, to me thats like buying a new car and having to go out and buy new tires for it because the tread is falling off.

Either way you go, I think you need a little compensation... Maybe if they order you a new string, they can get you an extra one....can always use a spare.

They wouldn't do it.

I mentioned being in a league and they said"Well, we hate to say it but it could be up to two weeks before you'll be able to shoot again."

I guess thats what I get for dealing with Sportsman's Warehouse, eh?

I have had all of mine within two weeks. Tell him you are in a hurry, and maybe he can get a rush on it for you.
Go with Gibblet, you wont be disappointed.

This is why I try to buy my bows.....golf clubs....guns....etc.... from the pro shops.....the REAL pro shops. If I needed a bow for a couple of weeks....I'd be shooting my SAME bow (Allegiance) from the shop for those 2 weeks. If I paid a little more for my bow (you crap your pants if I told you what I paid, though....lol)....it would be worth it for that reason, alone.

This is a GREAT lesson on why we should support our local bow shops (assuming they support YOU!). Dan...I don't know your circumstance. you may not have a shop around. I wasn't pointing a finger at you......just making a broad statement.

I have to say this is some of the biggest BS I have heard for customer service. 2 Weeks for a set of strings...... Tell them to take them off another bow and fix yours NOW! It surprises me the Warehouse was so poor with customer service.


Anyhow, Go with Gibb...... Its always good to keep things "in house" :)

Another vote for Gibblet.

As someone that works in a shop I am also shocked they won't help you. I know in our shop if someone was having these types of issues I would make sure they had a bow of some sort that fit them until we could get things sorted out.

I wouldn't spend another dime there and I would make sure they know why.

I had starteda thread a couple weeks ago asking just about the same thing but at the end of the thread I asked Gibblet if he would make me a string and how to order but never heard anything back..
I work for a pro shop and will just order a new Zebra String and cable for my outback so not a big deal. But I have heard so many good things about his strings I thought I'd give em a try on my bear hunt in September.

One more try here, Gibblet.... IF ya read this post.. Can you get me a string?

Send him a PM or call him. He doesn't read every thread on here looking for people that want to buy strings, he doesn't have the time to do that becausehe makes strings all day. He is also at the ATA show in Atlanta until the end of this week as are all people in the archery industry.

You'de probably be better off just PMinghim and he will send you his order form and you can fancify your string to your liking.

I have vapor trails strings and cables on my bow. I have not had any other custom made strings. And I am not sure how long it took to get my strings, I had to put my bow on layaway to pay it off so they ordered them and installed them while it was on layaway. But my wife ended up paying my bow off for me after 3 weeks of me putting it on layaway. so it took less than that I guess.

On a new bow like a month old when would you replace the factory cables and string? 6 months - a year or right now?

I think Gibblets strings are only $45 and $40 if you buy two or more. Least they were when i ordered mine, but that was 2 years ago. I would say Gibblet's strings are the way to go. After my second season using the same gibblet string there is virtually no wear on it. Another cool part is you can pic your own colors and maybe add something to make your bow stand out. Usually after you order it he has it made and shipped within about 2 days i think, then the rest of the time is waiting. Good luck on whatever you decide.

Me and my entire family use Stone Mountain Custom bowstrings, they are the best that I have used.....and the price is right.....
