do stabelizers help for bows???
Do the stabelizers help or are they a waste of money??

RE: do stabelizers help for bows???
No, they don't help at all. That's why everyone buys one, they don't want the next guy to feel bad because he didn't.....

Mine reduces shock and makes the bow a little quieter and the weight helps to balance the bow. Im not sure how well mine helps me balance my bow because i've taken it off and can shoot about the same 'cept the bow feels odd because its lighter. I did notice it was noisier without one though.

I don't really care about the shock all that much or balance for that matter but I do try to quiet the bow down if I can. So lately I have been just screwing in a Limbsaver into the stabilizer hole...seems to work ok. I know some people who shoot fantastic groups and don't use a stabilizer at all. Whatever you're happy with.
Do they help, I'm sure they do.....to some extent. |

I have a Sims Modular on mine, it does seem to reduce the riser shock a bit, and the forward weight helped me with an over shooting issue. I recently added a Sims S-Coil to it as well, and while I haven't shot this combo yet the "hand feel" seemed to be a little better. Nearly every competition shooter I've ever seen use them, some are surprisingly long, so there must be something to it.

They help a lot. That is why everyone has them and they come in different sizes and lengths. They help balance the bow and can reduce shock.
Shoot for a while with out one, then try for a while with one. You will be able to see the difference |
RE: do stabelizers help for bows???
I don't know I've never used one. I would like to try one since I'm in OK and it can get very windy. My hope is that the weight will help keep the bow still. That would be the only reason I would want to try one.

I like to stick a little weight on a rod I screw in to the stabalizer hole. I like to use about 6 inches of rod, maybe going to a little less. reason being, it fits my shooting style and tight arrow groups are easier to obtain with it on there which me thinks makes it a better hunting bow. now they have this nav com stuff and stuff like it that makes the bow quieter. Im all for makeing it quieter so I stick a little stabalizer on the end of the rod. it does the job nicely.
my dad used to really be into bows. he is the one who showed me that little trick. |
RE: do stabelizers help for bows???
I always why in the world anyone would want to shoot a bow that doesn't have a stabilizer??? There are only advantages to using one. You know, actually, come to think of it.... I don't think I've seen anyone NOT use a stabilizer with their bow for many many years???
