RE: bow and the cold

It is consistent enough now that it is beyond chance....BUT the largest bucks I see EVERY season are spotted during the late acrery season, usually sometime between Dec 10 and 20. In fact one of my best bucks was taken in a major sub zero cold front a few years ago. With the wind chill at -35 below zero I took a respectable 154" buck as he hit a picked corfield and kept his on on the 6 does that also fed in the field. Two season later we were workin' another dandy buck that was using an alfalfa field. He had opened up several scrapes along its edge. This was on the bucks way to another picked cornfield. My buddies arrow found it mark and the "healthy" buck carried a 160 class 5x5 frame with a 9 1/2" droptine. Late season is ALL about the food sources. Find 'em and spend the time hunting them. Scent,or lack of, is THE most critical element. If you get picked off or busted at this time of the season it is doubtfull you will get a second chance at the same buck. Deer are dangerously close to a total nocturnal lifestyle now so don't push 'em to hard. Good luck
