MRE Omelet. Only way to go. Good hot or cold. Unless you've gotsome haggis in yer pack. That's good cold. A slice between 2 pieces of rye with some hot mustard. MMMmmmmmmmmmm.... Burns night is only days away.

OOHHH!!!! They’re not that bad! if you can get a hold of the beef stew ones, take as many of them as you can pack, with out the accessories...I can eat those 3 times a day, 4 times on Sunday![8D]
Some are not "too bad" when youeither eat them orstarve. Short of that they suck. Try living on them for 6-7 months straight and you will understand.
Don't let my Avatar fool you...been there done that!!! And we are talking portable sustenance here, not Sunday dinner after church ...

beef steak is the best. Just don't eat the gum in the MREbecause the foodmay come out as fast as it went in.

We were always told to eat the peanut butter (because of the oils) if you were bound up, and the cheese if you were too loose.
But that was with C-rations, not MREs. Once we went to MREs ( Mysteries) all bets were off.

Peanut butter will do it, we were told the gum was ex-lax. I know I could eat those things for 2 weeks and if I didn't eat the gum or any other food( Just the MRE's) I coulnd't go the toilet if I wanted to. Nothing like getting out of the field and going to B-King, just had to be sure a bathroom was close, or put a diaper on[&:]

should have said this earlier! Eat them cold, save the heater's, get a 20oz soda bottle, dry it as well as you can, crumble the contents from the heater(old style), cut the heater and dump the contents in the bottle(new style, (use 3 or 4 of them) have the cap ready, poor a little water in the bottle, cap it quick(make sure the lid is tight) shake it and throw. Prepare yourself for a loud bang, be weary of the fumes it is hydrogen and it is flammable.Be sure the content under pressure isn't handled after shaking and don't throw it neer anyhting that could be damaged by boiling water. Doesn't seem like much but if you make a good one it sounds like a cannongoing off, scare a few people. 20oz coke bottles work the best.

After 8 years of MRE's the burrito,Cheeseburger, Chili Mac, Cheese Tortilini are my favorites. Also don't judge an MRE by the main meal the fixin's make the MRE. Toss the charm candies they have bad juju.

I here ya bo, I have lived in the field off of these things for lunch and dinner (cause the hot breakfast was way worse than any MRE) for 7 years as a tanker.

I know about bad juju, Greg. In the old C-rats, you couldn't give away the canned apricots. Everyone avoided them. Noboody would eat the 'cots.
