big doe
i shot one today. it weighed about 120 lbs or so. i got a lund shot or double lung. didnt pay to much attention. it was about 10:00am. shot up hill at about 22 yards. she at most ran 70 yards. and ran harder then any deer ive seen run. but i was wondering if this was right becuz i can not quite put the button on it, but there should be around 25- 30 lbs of meat rght?

RE: big doe
You should get about 85 lbs. of meat off of her if you debone right.

RE: big doe
Not sure on deer since I have never had a weight on them with the guts still in them, only an estimate. But on pigs and beef you will get about 55% of meat with no bones compared to live weight. If you have bones you will get more weight, but you get bones too. I would assume deer are the same.

RE: big doe

RE: big doe
i would have to say you will get about 20-30lbs of meat but 85LBS
, that thing better have a bone disease and a thin hide if your gonna get the much meat out of it, i might get that much off of a 300lb live weight buck let alone a gutted doe that weighs 120.Uh no. |
RE: big doe
Congrats on the Doe!
Here's a conversion chart that may help some of you folks ![]() |
RE: big doe
i still find it hard to get 50 pounds of meat out of a 118 pound deer. according to the chart
|
RE: big doe
That chart seems about accurate to me
|
RE: big doe

RE: big doe
The past two seasons we have cleaned all of our deer. For a total of 8 deer. We quarter them and then de-bone them. The biggest deer we shot was prolly around 170 live weight, and we got about 40lbs of meat at most, and that is having the carcuss look like it had been eaten by vultures, so there is no way you will get 85lbs of meat. On average i would say you get about 1/3 of the deers weight (give or take some).

RE: big doe
ya im still going with 25 % of the live weight
