decent camo and stay down wind and you can get very clost to them...the are mean little critters so do be cafeull...not too close...you need them 1/4 away because of there shield...hit back and have the arrow go through both lungs is the best way to do it...you can go through the shield, i have seen it but need lots of force, good b.h. and stong arrow....
good luck! |
RE: How many of you guys shoot pigs with bows????
I'd LOVE to bowhunt some pigs! I'm gonna have to try it in the next season it two. Sometimes I wish we had hogs around here but then after hearing how distructive they are, I don't think we need 'em!

Make a good shot on them. You have probably heard about the armour plate they have. It is a shield of fat that is really hard to penetrate. f you hit them to far forward you will hit this, and most likely just wound it. Like others said they are pretty agressive animals. On a trip to Texas i was charged by two and had to run and jump in the back of the jeep. So be careful and have fun, they are a blast to hunt.

I am about to move to Texas and my dad's ranch (which will be about 45 minutes away) is covered with them so I plan to start hunting them real soon.
I have been wondering if they put out much a blood trail because of all the fat (I know that if you shoot them with a rifle they do not bleed much - the fat covers the wound). For those of you who have done it - how hard are they to track? |

Don't have any to hunt here in IA. Planning our 1st trip this year to FL.
