Hunting the Francais Marion Hunt Unit SC

Is there anyone on the board familiar with hunting the Francais Marion Hunt Unit in South Carolina?

This is my primary WMA public hunt area, and I need some advise as to where to scout, and what areas were HOT for you this last season.

I hunted several 'planted fields' ion the Santee and Hellhole WMA there this last season, and had no luck.

I admit I am totally new to hunting, but there was several areas I saw with lots of deer sign, and the pressure just seems to have made all the deer nocturnal or swamp creatures.

Thanks.

I have land in Awendaw......rigt across the road from the FM. I've not hunted it, yet.....but I may, next year. I plan on maybe doing some rough scouting during the Wildlife Expo.

Thanks for the reply, GMMAT. Maybe we can coordinate our efforts this next season.

I took my first mature gobbler in Francis Marion back in '89. I saw more snakes than turkeys and more pigs than deer back then but the hunting was pretty fun.
