ok their is land that the state owns.. witch a private school sits on well sorta the land is across the road from the school but it's still the states land..
well anyway their is no hunting signs up but their is alot of trail's back their witch it looks like 4wheelers have been in.. but anyway i want to go shed hunting next month an was woundering would ya'll thing i would get fine'd or locked up for looking? its a prime place for big an i mean BIG bucks.. i have seen im thinking it grossed around 190-200 he is a big guy.. but i will never hunt it.. i just want the antler drops
what do you guy's think about going in their an looking for shed's? i mean like i said im not hunting it an im not planning on hunting it..it's tempting but im not getting my bow an all taken for a deer you know..

RE: question i have for everyone

Well, the obvious response would be "Just go ask", but I would think that unless it is fenced or posted No Trespassing it might be OK. I would ask.

It wouldbe pretty silly to get in trouble over something like not having your facts straight.

Good luck.
I hope you get in.

i mean i dont want to hunt it.. but then i do but i know i cant i just want to find drop's..

You got every right to be on state land just like those four wheelers do , I'd say your not gonna get in any trouble just for walking around .
So go out there and look to your hearts content and let us know if you find anything

Why are there posted signs on state land is the question you should be asking. If there is a brute in there you should be hunting not only his sheds, but what they fell from as well.

I agree as well, butwould still ask permission. It only makes you look better.Heck, maybe they will even let you hunt there if you ask and look to be the "considerate hunter"

Just because it is state land does not give you rights to be on it. There are tons of what they call "school sections" in SD and WY. They are state owned but NOT public property. You can and will get prosecuted for tresspassing.

The state leases these lands to private landowners. The leasee has the say as to what goes on there, not the state. Get permission before going. The DNR won't do you any good, you have to find out who leases the land and talk to them.

I don't see any problem with just walking around either, unless it says no trespassing. That's a different story. Maybe you should ask. You never know, my princliple is an avid whitetail and elk hunter. Maybe that school's will be too!

Like I said if the four wheelers are using it , then you should too.
The tax's you pay help pay for that land so you have a right to use it too.

RE: question i have for everyone

i went out their yesterday to walk around an i found a bunch of lastyears sheds not all chewed up like i would have thought..
i was talking to the guy that runs the school he said they are letting people clear the deer out so i asked him about hunting he said sure.. so he put me in the system as he said with my name tel number an address..
so i am thinking i am gonna go hunt it this weekend or the next befor the season is out thanks!

I think it is legal as long as you do not have a weapon.
