feeding area or Bedding area?
 

I have been in the woods this year and one of the things I have been doing is finding area's with 6 or more piles of droppings and sitting on those area's most of the time I see Deer how ever I was wondering are these feeding area's or Bedding area's ? becasue most of the one's I find are under white Oaks and some one told me they were bedding area's But I alwasy thought that deer sat in Super thick area's where they can hear or see things comming at them. Not in an Oak grove ? Not to mention I havent found ground impressions to signify that they were bedding there. I can see that maybe the same area's with loads of dropping I found in the pines could be beds, But Howdo you know with out snow or somewhat of an impression if there bedding there. Well to me it sounds like a feeding area. But it could be one of two our more food areas they like to eat becuase a lot of deer go to different food areas by the day. They usally have 2. Our were i hunted this year they did.

Sounds like a feeding area, is there anything for them to eat there? The acorns are all gone by now. So it may change into a popular route to go from a feeding area to a beding area? Just a thought.

Sounds like a feeding area too me too, also, it is my opinion that when you found a lot of droppings in a feeding areathat they are not bedding very far away.

bow huntert is right. Many times you will find a lot of droppings near bedding areas. Deer will bed wherever they feel secure. You would think that would be in thick cover, but many times an open woods or ridgeline suits them fine.

I seem to find alot of droppings between bedding and feeding.Closer to the beds and see alot of deer whenI hunt these areas.I am no expert but this has been my experience.
