Arrow Help
I have done some reading and figuring but I don't know If I am right. I need help choosing the right arrow. I have a 29'' draw length and 60lb draw weight. I know that I need a 30'' shaft, and I think I should probably go with 7 grains per pound. or should I go with six? So, if six, I would have a 360 grain arrow shaft. So what broadhead weight should I choose? This is harder than I thought. Help?

RE: Arrow Help
First I guess I'm wondering why you need 30" arrows on a 29" draw? What rest are you using?
OK...first, you need an arrow that is spined correctly, and anything in a 400 spine would work for you. How heavy you go depends on what you are trying to do. Do you want light and fast or slow and heavy? There are good and bad to both, but that's for another day. IMO, you want your finished arrow weight in the 5.8-6 gpp of draw weight. With you shooting 60#'s that's gonna be anywhere from 345 to 360 grains of finished arrow weight. |
RE: Arrow Help
Thank you so much. Quick question. Does finished arrow weight mean with the broahead, or just finished cut with the nock and insert in? I was told that your shaft length should be about 1 inch larger than your broadhead. I am using a Whisker Biscuit quickshot rest.

RE: Arrow Help
Without seeing your set up I couldn't say for sure, but I have a 30" draw and shoot 29" arrows...
Yes, finished arrow weight is just that....finished, including points, nocks and fletching... |
RE: Arrow Help
Okay, it makes sense. But how come I see guys on this site who have 400 grain arrows with 100 grain points. That would be 140 grains more than me. Is this just because of different draw weights?

RE: Arrow Help
Correct, and they want heavier arrows for more momentum and such.....Long discussion.....
