New Muzzy!!
Listen up guys there is good news coming Muzzy has added a new broadhead to their MX line the MX-3 It's a new version of their classic 100 grain 3 blade. With an extra 1/16 inch of cutting diadmeter and a shorter profile this should be a even more lethal broadhead than Muzzy is known to make:):)

RE: New Muzzy!!
sounds nice... ill have to check into it
|
RE: New Muzzy!!
Shorter profile? Hmmm may include some steeper blades... sounds like it resembles a Slick Trick with 3 blades.

RE: New Muzzy!!
Its the MX-3, brother to the 2006 MX-4. I'll be trying some of these because I am not real fond of the MX-4.
I'll hang on to my Rocky Mountain Turbos until then. |
RE: New Muzzy!!
I've never liked Muzzy heads.
1/16" is meaningless IMO and will not make a noticeable difference to anyone. I'm sure they are more then capable of smoking any animal hunted with a bow though............I just find them boring for the most part. |

RE: New Muzzy!!
I used Muzzys for a few years and was never satisfied, I'm with the Slick Tricks and it looks like Muzzy wants to be as well! More power to em'!!!!!

ORIGINAL: Germ /16" is meaningless IMO and will not make a noticeable difference to anyone. Great for Muzzy!!!! It definately shouldn't hurt...............I just don't foresee anyone glaring at an exit would in amazement over the 1/16" of additional damage. Kinda like say a bow is 2 fps faster. Whoopity freakin' doo. |
RE: New Muzzy!!
Just maybe it will catch enough lung for a guy, or hit an artery. If it means 1 less thread(we all know) then I sing the praise to Muzzy.
I have whacked over 30 deer with them. They are very popular head among first year hunters. We can only hope Atlas!! |
RE: New Muzzy!!
I just hope they keep the 100 grain three blade around for along time, I have had very good luck with there performance and will check out the new one.

Do you honestly look for exciting broadheads? Because thats a gay reason not to buy a broadhead! I have always liked Muzzy and when they came out with the MX line I was pumped.

RE: New Muzzy!!
I've never liked muzzy's either (although they are effective). I don't like the screw on point, I don't like how the blades fit, I've always thought the blades were weak, and they've not been the sharpest heads either. I understand the blades obviously can be sharpened but I'm still not a big fan.

RE: New Muzzy!!
thanks for the heads up
|
RE: New Muzzy!!
I was on their site the other night looking at them. The MX-3 is also suppose to have thicker/stronger blades.
I shoot a 85 grain thunderhead. But may have to try these for next year. |
RE: New Muzzy!!
You either like a broadhead brand or you don't. For the most part, they all do the same thing. Some complain of sharpness with the Muzzy, but I for one have never had any issues with my Muzzy 90's. Plenty of passthroughs and great arrow flight as well. I just recently switched over to the 100 grain 3-blade so this MX-3 might be something to try.
Are they exciting looking? No. Are they effective? In my experiences.. yes. |
RE: New Muzzy!!
ORIGINAL: SRBowman Do you honestly look for exciting broadheads? Because thats a gay reason not to buy a broadhead! How old are you 15?? I actually don't plan on having sex with my broadheads but if you're worried about being gay then shouldn't you be buying pink ones instead of manly ones like Muzzy?? After all their slogan is "Bad to the Bone" ;)You can kill a deer with almost any head out there.......so assuming you have settled on sharpness, accuracy, and toughness........all that is left is how they "look" Some heads I don't like the "looks" of..............that doesn't mean they aren't good.....it just means I won't buy them. If looks had nothing to do with why people buy them then they would all look the same. A Scion will get me from point A to point B but I am not about to turn in my GMC and get one. Tec risers got called "ugly" a million times and the new guardian has had that label attached by a few people as well. "Looks" has a lot more to do with what people buy then you think. I have always liked Muzzy and when they came out with the MX line I was pumped. [:o] All joking aside.........I'm glad you like the heads and I am sure they will do just fine for you. I just don't like them. |
RE: New Muzzy!!
Muzzy has always been a popular head, and their new one should do well, But brand X give me 2 dozen of theirs years ago and I will probable be still useing them when I die!! I only answered this thread because it makes 300 for me!!!
|
RE: New Muzzy!!
I used Muzzy's all my bowhunting life (about 30 yrs) and tried the Shuttle this year and had great results. I carry both in my quiver now.

RE: New Muzzy!!
I think they're a decent head. I tried my darnest to switch to Muzzy. Heck, Muzzy even sent me some free Thunderheads(OPS...I mean Muzzy's)with my name printed on them once when I won a hunting trip they were co-sponsoring. I just couldn't get them to fly as well as my Thunderheads. I tried 3 different weights in an effort to make the switch. I always ended up going back to Thunderheads by the time hunting season rolled around. However, I found a new deadly flyer this year just like RIckmur. I'm carrying a quiver filled mostly with Shuttle T's and one Thunderhead. The Shuttle T's are deadly accurate. And aren't they "GAY" looking.[8D] Atlas, I think he's 19. :D

I used Muzzys for a couple years, but I don't like the screw on point either. They always did the job but some u just couldn't get the point straight.

RE: New Muzzy!!
I think the mx3 should be a great head for muzzy. I used to shoot muzzy until I tried slick tricks.

These will be the heads that could end up in my quiver just for a change of pace. If my Stingers weren't so darn good it would make it easier to switch and try something new. I do like the Shuttle heads a lot though and since I can replace the blades they fit bill perfectly for me. Having said all that I will still probably be hunting with Stingers next year. |
RE: New Muzzy!!
muzzy has by far the best and simplest way of locking the blades down, on the 3 blade models, that I have seen. Most heads cut just 1 1/8 inch and print good groups (not all in the same spot but good tight groups when useing the same head) I use a variety of mechanicals my self. I have some 2" cut for the turkeys and a bunch of 1 1/4- 1 1/2 inch cut for deer/ and other 4 legged game. they all fly to the same point as my field points. they are really great about that. I do have a 100 grain 4 blade muzzy I carry with me and often shoot it at squirrels (little buggers deserve it, darn chater boxes).
I saw some nap thunder heads on sale once and gave them a try just because they were really cheap to buy and you got a lot of them. when assembeling them i found out the only place the blade accually gets locked down is on the notch in the very front base and rear base of the blade. that i did not like so I guess ill just give them to some one who likes thunderheads i guess. |

ORIGINAL: Germ Off Topic, but Atlas what ever happen with your stinger that got bent/destroyed from just hitting the rib bone? I will email them and see what they say. |
RE: New Muzzy!!
Why would they do that? Send you a competitors product. |
RE: New Muzzy!!
Whoever says muzzy's arent good should be shot.. jk jk! But i love muzzy's when they say bad to the bone they mean it,2 deer i shot threw the shoulder so far and it went all the way threw.
