Were they dead when they found them???? I always thought if you found a couple like that you could probably find a big boulder or heavy duty hardwood limb and maybe smack them hard enough to break one of the antlers off and free them. Of course you'd have to have an escape plan like a tree to hide behind. I saw a video once where there were a couple locked up and a guy cut one of the racks with a small chainsaw to free them. It worked. I really don't think I'd feel right shooting one of them, but that's me.

Tough thing to find. They sure are purty. It's too bad they went to waste. That would be cool to have full body mounts like they were fighting. That would be a cool story.
