Not one hunting post on the first page of this bowhunting section. This looks like the forum in the middle of the summer!

Headed back to Illinois tomorrow for 4 day hunt. Will be headed back the following weekend for another 3 day hunt.

Question for anyone from southern Il... Have things settled back down from the army of orange... It will be almost 20 days since muzzeloader and 26 or so days since the last shotgun hunt.

Hows the daytime movement been?

m fron souther illinois and.. im not exactly sure because i havnt had much time in the stand lately.. but i was hunting a week ago and hardly saw anything.. also i thought about hunting this morning and i decided i was too tired.. then my dad said one of his buddies saw over 50 deer in a 2 mile square over by where i would have been hunting.. i was pissed.. but id say theryre over the orange but they have changed their habits a bit.. where in southern illinois will u be hunting? county? near town?

I was out in Jersey Co. last weekend and the deer came out in a picked corn field around 4:00. Just not on the path I was sitting over.

Any nice bucks out in that cut corn last weekend jm? Looks like an almost identical weekend this weekend...Front coming through sunday night/monday.

Nope, two 1 1/2 year olds and 6 does and young ones. No big boys before dark.

I'm not seeing much either in southern IL. Haven't had much activity since 2nd shotgun season.

Monroe County here and not a heck of a lot of action lately.. My deer cams are getting a rest that for sure.. I have had more cow pics than deer on them.. lol

But I still see deer... Hey, ya can't shoot a deer if your on your couch!! So get out and hunt, there's still time.. :D

Hey demo and buttonbuck...Does your land get bowhunted pretty hard too? Just curious, cause the land I hunt, doesn't get bowhunted at all... It does get hammered during gun seasons...But most all of IL does!

yeah, I bowhunt it pretty hard, may have pressured it too much lately. Season will be over too soon, so I can't stay at home lol.

Here in Central IL activity has switched mostly to food sources. The orange army has definitely put a change on patterns though. I'll be out this weekend though regardless!

As far as food sources, what are they hitting right now? cut corn, wheat, cut beans?? any other late season tips to offer??

Where are you hunting whitty?

I'm thinking they oughta be moving realy hard right before this major front comes in... Looks like right now it may be Friday afternoon/Saturday Morning.

In november, my best hunt (out of a 9 day hunt) was an afternoon where it poured. There were 30 deer out in the soybeans that had just been cut, right in the middle of getting an inch of rain that day.

southern ill. also
reckon i'll stick to corn and wheat. seemed right after the beans were cut, lots of action but there wasn't much waste on the ground to keep'em...most of my action in oct./nov. was on corn and 10 yr stuff....hoping the wheat is up good now and that'll be the ticket!
