Mechanical broadheads for elk

What are your thoughts on using mechanical broadheads on elk; good or bad idea? Let me rephrase the question so I don't start another battle of thefixed/mechanical war. For those of you who shoot mechanical bh's deer hunting, do you also use them on elk?

I would never use mechanical broadheads for elk, My family has had huge success with muzzys and montec. i like the montec for the simple fact that it is one piece solid broadhead. can not go wrong with that.

Nope, I've killed deer with mechs and wouldn't consider it for elk. Can it be done? Sure, but you can kill one with a field tip in the right place.

Also, mechs cover up lots of tuning issues. Shooting a mech out of a poorly tuned bow at an elk is just asking for trouble.
