New year hunting resolutions

Figured we see this thread pop up about this time.
So what's your hunting resolution or just something new or different you plan to try next season?

I am seriously thinking about busting out (or buying a new) recurve and trying to take a doe with it. I'm not going to go completely crazy and switch to total trad gear, just probably ease into it.

Mine is get my wifes first deer with a bow. She picked up one of my older bows a few weeks ago and now she wants to hunt with it so next year is set to get her first.

I think I am going to try to curb some of my impulsive purchases and be happy with the gear that I have. I love all my archery stuff...but I am easily sold on new stuff! I bought my new truck when I took my wife's car in for an oil change...kind of pathetic. So, this year, less buying...for now!

Take a gobbler in the sprig and help my dad get one too. It will be his first time turkey hunting in 15 years.

Get a buck with my bow. Hopefully I can accomplish that one before the new years rings in.

To never shoot a buck that I field judge to be under 135. I setteled this year just to make a score when I could of been out hunting the last three weeks of the late season. Just a warning to my 9 team mates next season, I might be eating tag soup.

Never to agrue with Atlas, but I think I have a better shot at a Booner;)

I would like a Booner, and to kill a turkey when my daughter hunts with me this spring.

Me too, Motown. Me, too.

My resolution is to NOT take a shot that I'm not proud of in '07.

That's it.

Kill a turkey with a bow first of all.I also may end up trying a recurve this year as well to take a doe with during early season. The guys at the shop have been having me shooting all sorts of them on and off over the last several months but I can see a Dream Catcher in my hands for a hunt or two next fall. Get my dad back into archery and setup well so I can hunt with him more often. The last compound he pulled was one of the first ones ever made. Should be fun.........I am most nervous about him climbing trees though.

Yes this was one of mine once. I took her hunting with me. Told her I was going to shoot a doe if one came by and if she was ok with it. She said "Yes". About 20 min later here comes a nice 1.5 year old doe, just how I like them. I pulled back and let my arrow go. Deer took two hops and stopped. My wife said "You Missed",I looked at her and said "No I didn't" Just as I said it, she started to fall over and do the death kick. My wife screamed for 15 mins as loud as she could. Took me 30 mins to get her out of the tree, and I had to drag the damn deer out of her sight.

Becareful what you ask for, she loves venison and loves to cook it, it is the killing part the seems to bother her;)

Well, since I just got done with paypal for a used recurve, my resolution is to get proficient enough to hunt with it next year. And hopefully to kill a deer and a hog with it next season.

1) Invest in a ground blind to take my kids hunting more often.

2) Spend more time scouting.

3) Plant food plots on my leases.

4) Lose weight where I won't hurt as much after hunting.

I took my 2 youngest daughters one thanksgiving morning. I stood by a tree and sat one by each leg in big thick camo coats that they could sit on and keep warm on the cool Nov. morning. I had this area brused in thick on both sides so I could see something comming from either direction. Well like clock work about 7:30 a doe comes up the trail heading home. I see her draw she comes into view and you guessed it I spined her. She falls over in front of them at 10 yards. I thinking ok not what I had planned. Ofcourse the doe is flopping around so I whisperI have to shoot her again turn away if your want to. I put one thru the lungs look down and see a tear comming down the older ones face. The one I call Killer seems unphazed. About this time I hear a grunt and see a buck comming up the trail. He stops looking at the doe that is in front of us trying to figure out whats going on. The buck staring at the doe comes inbetween us and the doe at about 3 yards from us. They were squeezing the hell out of my leg, the doe was still flopping around, and the buck wasn't moving. After several minutes I yelled at the buck, he damn near ran us over getting out of DodgeI shoot the doe again she looks like a pin coushion but finally expires. I'm gutting her and the oldest one is all red eyed and Killer says " Can we go to Mcdonalds when your done".

I took my wife hunting once.................ONCE!!!!!! It starting freakin raining so I figured she would be done in no time. She toughs it out and sits like a champ for almost 2 hours. I kept asking her if she wanted to go and she emphatically said "NO.......this is really fun" We had a good time watching the small game play in the rain until a doe appeared on the edge of the field and made her way into the woods. Before I could even raise my gun I heard a little whimper and I looked to see her in full tears. We sat together and watched the doe make her way past us and disappear into the pines. We left shortly after that and don't talk about it much.

Never told anyone that before..........her only statement on the way to the truck was "I just didn't want you to kill such a beautiful animal" I couldn't think of a reply to that.

She eats venison as much as anyone and always has...........like germ's wife though the killing part is better left a mystery.

Mine is to kill a deer:D:)[8D]

No seriously. 1. take only does and big bucks 2. take a buck with the bow. 3. Spend less money on hunting gear and save more.

That's all I've got so far.
