Hunt during or after the first snow of the year???

Hunt during or after the first snow of the year???
In your opinion does the first snow of the year put the deer on their bellies or does it get them up and moving? The reason I ask is that it is snowing right now(1:30pm) and they are saying 3-4 inches POSSIBLE by tonight. Would you wait until morning or go out in the snow this afternoon? I would love the chance to bloodtrail in the snow. Thanks in advance for any thoughts on the subject

Wait till after the snow. From what I've seen here in Iowa, they don't move until it's over. Good luck and keep us posted as to what you find.

I can testify that they definantly move after it quits, but to be honest I would hunt during the snow also.

I've seen deer move many times during the snow...It hasn't snowed here in two years during the hunting season but when it did, the deer were moving. I've seen more yearlings running around in the snow though....and if mama is still alive then she will follow.........and if Buba is around and we hope she's turned on, then Maybe he'll show up<img src=icon_smile_big.gif border=0 align=middle>

I guess it would be determined on how hard it is actually snowing, and the visibility. It was too hard, I may not be out. But if it is a gentler type where visibility is good, I would definetely be out there hunting if I could.

I'm hunting in the morning because the temp will be 10 degrees. Deer need to eat to stay warm and I think they'll feed. Heavy snow I think they bed till after it quits but the light snow we are getting won't stop them from feeding
