fletching questions
how do you guys fletch your arrows? do you have to buy a jig for them? also i have heard that you can put wraps on that you dont have to have a jig for, is this true? these may be dumb questions but i really have no idea and i know that you guys are the best to ask.

RE: fletching questions
Yes, you need a jig to fletch your own arrows....something has to hold that vane there while the glue dries, afterall.
Wraps are VERY simple to do. The do just that, wrap around the arrow, then you glue the vane/feather to them. They add some pizzaze to your arrows. To get started, you will need the following: Vanes/feathers of your choice Fletching jig of your choice Glue of your choice Arrow wraps if you desire. It's pretty simple to do, but does take a little practice to do it right. |
RE: fletching questions
They do have wraps now with the vanes already on them. You just heat them up and they shrink on the shaft.

RE: fletching questions
I've never used the shrink wraps with fletch attached but I see they have them with Blazers as well.
![]() I still perfer fletching my own. |
RE: fletching questions
Those shrink fletch are a neat idea, but man are they heavy....An, if you need to replace one vane, forget about it....It's absolutely all or nothing with those, and they are expensive...

RE: fletching questions
mo, do you have any suggestions on jigs that arent too expensive? i just want a single i dont need one that does six at a time or whatever. thanks for your help.

RE: fletching questions
The Bitz is as good as it gets, but it's also pricey. My choice is the Grayling...comes in either straight clamp, or right/left helical. Half the price and works JUST as good.

RE: fletching questions
do i need any helical if i shoot say blazers with fixed blade heads?
|
RE: fletching questions
I shoot right helical, but I don't think it's required. Rob/PA Bowyer shoots his with right offset....Ah, just get the right helical and be done with it. Works great. Oh, what rest do you use?
|
RE: fletching questions
ya ill get the right helical to put some spin on it. i just got the ultra rest hunter for christmas and i really like it so far. i like it that you can lock it up so it doesnt go down when you let the bow down.
