The great white hunter.
Where is out great white hunter that said he would be killing a doe this morning. :D:DI went on one of these surburban deer hunts this morning and left with six dead does. I ran out of arrows. It was a shoot, not a hunt. All of the meat is going to our local salvation army homeless shelter. They have permits for 60 more deer and want me to come back. its like shooting monkeys in a barrell, but a necessary deed I guess.

Sounds like they're thick in there! At least they are giving you guys the chance instead of hiring sharpshooters.

I ran into a guy here in town the other day who had 11 doe tags for the city zoo.(not the penned up ones) and he was all excited.I think i didnt like him because he cant hit anything and will most likely wound 20 before he fills 11,and his whole attitude.I know they have to go,but they are realy used to people,and are quite tame.Better him than me i guess.

I don't think you have too worry about MOTOWN wounding 20 cause near as I can tell when MOTOWN lets the string go that critter is in trouble.

I hunted Saturday morning and saw 6 deer, total. I saw 4 I didn't have a tag for (bucks....including the bull of my woods @ 20 yds)...but the only does I saw were 100 yds away.
The difference Motown....is you're looking for a reason to belittle me....and I did nothing to you. I really don't care how you "roll". Congrats on your doe harvest. Jeff |

I've also donated 2 deer to a family we know that has TWELVE children. I set out to do that, this year.....and I did.
When Rob/PA was down....we saw a lot of deer. Seeing deer and having shot opportunities don't always go hand in hand. You've been to a strip club before, haven't you????? Jeff |

Gobblers, I wasn't trying to belittle you friend. Some of your post have seemed a bit prideful lately. Just like when Joe Namith guaranteed the win it can come across as a bit cocky. You know yourself when you have a large number of deer in an area it does simplify the task of killing them a great bit. Deer hunting is like realestate location, location, location. There are guys (awsome hunters) on here that don't see the amout of deer you see in one sit all year long. Some areas hold 3 or 4 deer in a square mile. Should you qiut hunting your spot because it's loaded with deer? Heck no, your doing the right thing and had an awsome season. Just realize there are many men that are not tagged out like us on here still busting their humps just trying to get a shot at a deer, any deer. The numbers just might not be there for them. Chris

I posted a LONG post on here the other day giving credit where credit was due. In there I mentioned just the people you're talking about (and gave them credit for MY season.....for they've helped ME a lot!). I also have said many times (especially in my INITIAL post about "calling my shot") that I mean NO disrepect to anyone OR the animals we pursue. Yeah...I had a great year. It'll change the way I hunt, forever. I might not shoot 5 deer, next year. If I don't...it'll be because I chose not to. It won't be because they're not there. I don't apologize for having a large deer pop. I take offense to ANY mention that my hunting is a shooting gallery. I spent 46 days in those woods, this year......taking 4 animals. I spent one day elsewhere....taking 1. I passed on a LOT of deer. If I'm supposed to apologize for that......excuse me if I refrain. I'd NEVER begrudge anyone having TOO GOOD a spot to hunt. I don't understand the problem here. Even if you (SB) did brag about how many deer you see whats wrong that? It's not like you are calling some one a bad hunter because they don't see alot. I think that some people on here are just too uptight and look for a reason to pick a fight with other people.

I have respect for the animals...and I've given credit to MANY people here for helping me put together the year I had. What do you want me to say? I don't hunt fenced areas. I don't bait. Hey Motown.... you're still behind.[8D] I lost track of how many Len has killed a month ago. Let's say it's double digit at this point for the year. He's not up to his usual 20-25 though.[&:] He wanted a small doe this morning for someone. So this deer comes along, he glasses it with binos for a few minutes making sure it has NO bumps. Finally deciding that it's a skin head he shoots her. Happy with his kill he rolls her over to dress and finds a mantool. Oops. He checks again, no bumps. No visible or feelable bumps, but he's got a thing. Rub the deers head and it's as smooth as a babies bottom. I told him it was Gay. As far as numbers of deer we kill, depends on where you hunt and how much you hunt and whether or not you know what the heck you're doing.[8D] If it were a numbers game ya'll loose, Len wins, the last two years and this year too. And he doesn't have a cream puff place to hunt. He also takes no prisoners.[8D] I've had fantastic years. I shot 5 bucks in an 8 day period about 5 years ago. Each bigger than the last. I quit at 7 that year with another month of the season left. I gave 5 away. I usually shoot 3-5 and quit. This year I passed a lot, shot one arrow and for the most part quit. Could have shot several nice deer but decided not to. Just didn't seem important at the time.
P.S. With multiple BUCKtags you ALWAYS keep one for the occasional brute. It allows you to hunt with anticipation until the end. Always hold one back, especially with liberal doe tags. |
