1.5 yr old. A young buck can have a fat body with a small rack. THe nutirents go to thier body 1st before the rack anyways.
Aging deer likethe one picturedain't that difficult.

RE: How old is he?

im gonna say that hes around 2 1/2 years old because of his size. i never guess a deers age by the size of their antlers because some bucks just have bad genetics.i would be surprised if a 1 1/2 year old deer had such a large body.

Id say a second season buck. Antlers are no indication of age. Antlers are an indication of nutrition and genetics.

Healthy 1.5. His lack of definable muscle gives him away. They will really start to show more muscle in both front and rear quarters as they age. At 1.5 he could still be showing signs that he was born early and is a shade older than the rest of his generation. That won't be noticable next year but it can still have a slight effect at this age. He has definately been well fed. He should be dandy in a few years.
