Another ideal could be go in that stand shoot her and get some fresh tender venision. Im sure she doesnt have any gangreen going on and then you dont have to worry about the what if it gets infected and she slowing dies. That is asumeing you have a doe tag and what not. just my two cents.

Thats a very large open wound. If she lives That`s going to leave one nasty scare. I am sure there a few deer running around out there with bad cuts and such this time of yr "you just happen to have a pic of one"[&:]

She will make it. That is actually a very clean wound and looks good. The pink color of the tissue indicates that it is healthy. It is granulation tissue, the tissue that fills in before the skin contracts over it. The black area in the center is a little necrotic but not draining so the black will slough off and have healthy stuff underneath it.

The presence of that much granulation tissue would indicate that the wound is likely 2-3 weeks old. The deer is not skinny and appears healthy otherwise. 2-3 weeks with a deep infected wound and she would have lost considerable weight and look poor by now. 2 months from now you will be hard pressed to tell it was there.

That doesn't look infected to me i say she will survive but end up with a nasty scar on her side .It could be from a wire fence slicing her open

I always thought the deer might die of infection.
