RE: Ultimate Poll! Your best Deer
I voted for a doe under 150 lbs.
That was my first with a bow and therefore what I consider "my best" |
RE: Ultimate Poll! Your best Deer
My biggest was a 10 point in 1986. I have no idea what the score was but he weighed 240 dressed!

RE: Ultimate Poll! Your best Deer
I agree antlers do not size up the deer. However I have shot a deer with one antler being six points with a drop. The other antler apeared to have been shot off by someone. That deer dressed out 245lbs. Next was an eight pointer that dressed out at 203lbs. While a friend weighed his eleven pointer weighing in at 187 lbs. Antlers in this case didn't make any sence to me, as the eight pointer outweighed the eleven pointer.

Phil from Maine,
From what I've read over the years, it seems that a lot of people from Maine traditionally go by weight to judge a bucks size. People from other areas, especially Texas, seem to go by score. Have you noticed this? |
RE: Ultimate Poll! Your best Deer
My best (and by best I mean biggest rack) was a typ. 8 pointer scored close to 120 and that is great for my area.
My best (in my opinion) was a 4 pointer about 12" wide I took with my son when he was 3 y/o. Imagine keeping a 3 y/o quiet enough to pull back, aim, and release while that 4 pointer is 8yds away. |
