Man charged in hunter's death
Man charged in hunter's death Associated Press LOGAN | A bowhunter was charged with reckless homicide and involuntary manslaughter after he accidentally shot and killed another hunter, police said. According to police reports, Frederick Huffman, 27, of Logan was in a tree stand just before dawn Sunday when he blindly fired an arrow at what he thought was a deer. The arrow traveled 27 feet before piercing the right thigh of Kary Jenkins, 31, of Circleville, who was hunting with his 9-year-old son. Huffman tried to save Jenkins by using his belt as a tourniquet and helped get him to a road to wait for help. Firefighters, paramedics and doctors were unable to resuscitate him. RE: Man charged in hunter's death
Getting charged with it and getting convicted of it in these type of cases are usually two different stories, sorry to say, but we can keep our fingers crossed.

RE: Man charged in hunter's death
This really sucks, but it is the same old story of not identifying your target before taking the shot. Just a little more ammo for THEM.
The best of luck in all your hunting endeavors!!! God Bless, Dave |
RE: Man charged in hunter's death
Some people shouldn't be allowed to be in the woods,
let alone carry a weapon! He should be convicted. Bobcat2's buck is gone! |
RE: Man charged in hunter's death
convicted....yes
but I will give him credit for one thing..... atleast he didnt climb down and run....he atleast tried to help the guy he shot its says before dawn....too many people would have tried to get away in the dark and not own up to their own stupid actions idiots shooting at things they cant even see well enuff to tell that its NOT a deer....even if it WAS a deer he couldnt have benn able to see it well enuff to take a proper shot at it... ** I almost got him but I refuse to take a marginal shot ** |
RE: Man charged in hunter's death
And the man's 9 year old son got to watch his father die at the hands of another hunter!? Another anti-hunter is born. I'll say it again. Read my signature.
KEEP IT LEGAL. KEEP IT SAFE. OR WE MAY NOT GET TO KEEP IT AT ALL. |
RE: Man charged in hunter's death
Nothing like clearly defining your target and picking a spot.
Here's your sign. Trebark Become one with nature...then grill it. |
RE: Man charged in hunter's death
I think it must of been pretty dark not being able to identify your target at 27 feet away.Thats only 9 yds.
And they will plea bargin the charge,And the guy will get probation. And to think what the guys son has to live with watching his father die at the hands of a idiot unable to tell the differance from a deer and a human. It's not how big the Deer,But the size of the experiance that matters!! |
RE: Man charged in hunter's death
Worst thing is a stupid thing like this makes US all look bad.
By the time the media gets done with this thing peoples heads will be spinning. "Im not a guide, but i did stay at a Holiday Inn Express recently" |
RE: Man charged in hunter's death
I feel so sad for the son. I can't imagine his horror at seeing this. I agree the guy tried to help, instead of running. But his help would not have been required had he adhered the first rule of hunting. IDENTIFY YOUR TARGET, BEFORE YOU SHOOT!!!!!
