RE: walk in cooler
A hunting buddy of mine uses a refrigerator. Top freezer works the best. He built a rack to hang the quarters from. That's the only thing, you have to quarter the deer for this method. You can buy a used fridge for 100 bucks or less or even wait and keep your eyes open and get one free.
I have access to one which is made from a refrigerated box that was on a 1 ton truck like they use for delivering frozen sandwiches and pizzas to stores. It is about 8X10. We cut a hole in the front and put in a 110 AC unit. You can hang 10 deer in it easily. |

yeah we've got a walk in, and we can hang 6 to 8 deer in there depending on size. I would highly recommend it. It really makes things convenient, plus you can age your meat, which is awesome! Best of luck on finding one.

RE: walk in cooler
Make friends with your local refrigeration service company, They are always changing out old smaller (6x6ft, 8x8ft) coolers. Alot of the timesyou can pick up the old cooler panels for next to nothing or even free if you will haul them off....

RE: walk in cooler
They are very nice to have. I have neighbor with one. I am going to make my own in my soon to build pole car port... Frame in an 8x10 or 12 room, heavily insulate it and add a swamp cooler.. they work great.
best of luck |
