1 IDIOT WANNA BE BOW HUNTER

TUESDAY ON THE FRONT PAGE OF THE MT. PLEASANT MI. NEWS THERE WAS A STORY OF A TABBY CAT THAT WAS SHOT IN THE HEAD BY A BOW HUNTER. MAN WHAT AN IDIOT!!!!!!!! TO MAKE A LONG STORY SHORT -- THE CAT SURVIVED ONLY TO BE BLIND IN ONE EYE AND DEAF IN ONE EAR.

IN THIS DAY AND AGE DO WE REALLY NEED THIS TYPE OF PRESS. THANK GOODNESS FOR THE IBO. THEY STOOD UP AND OFFERED A 1000.00 REWARD FOR ANY INFORMATION ON THIS IDIOT. THAT WAS ALSO PRINTED IN THE PAPER. COUDOS EXTREME TO THE IBO.

WELL I FOR ONE AM APPALED AT THIS SITUATION AND HAVE CONTRIBUITED TO THE CATS OWNER FOR THE VET BILLS. I HOPE WE CATCH THIS GUY. I THINK A GOOD PUNISHMENT WOULD BE TO NAIL HIM UPSIDE ON A POLE, BY THE FAMILY JEWELS AND GIVE HIM A DULL BROAD HEAD. SEE HOW HE LIKE IT.

OH WELL JUST VENTING.

I saw on Ripley's Believe it or not about a cat that was shot in the middle of the back and survived. This sounds a little different though as the archer admitted to having lost an arrow while target practicing and paid ALL of the $1000.00 vet bill. I agree! Kudos to the IBO!!!!!!!!!!!!

<BLOCKQUOTE id=quote<font size=1 face='Verdana, Arial, Helvetica' id=quote>quote:<hr height=1 noshade id=quote>Chef, while an idiot holding a bow looking for deer may be the culprit (I won't use the word bowhunter for a person like this) this cat may have been shot some someone in a residential area not hunting. In the lake community I lived at for some time it was not uncommon for homeowners to shoot everything with anything they had handy (the used the term nusiance animal VERY liberialy). To relay a story... I had a neighbor who's dog was shot with a small caliber firearm (it survived), later found out it was shot by a resident that had called me &quot;disgusting&quot; for hanging a deer in MY yard. The reason for the dog getting shot... it had gotten out and was in this persons trash. <hr height=1 noshade id=quote></BLOCKQUOTE id=quote></font id=quote><font face='Verdana, Arial, Helvetica' size=2 id=quote>

Sadly enough these types of things will continue as long as we let them. Until more of us decide to quit being ******* an actually stand up and teach of few of these people some manners, they have no reason to not continue these types of behaviors. I can honestly tell you that I would have tried my very best to break that guy from ever shooting another dog.

Protect your hunting rights, &quot;Spay or neuter a liberal.&quot;

when my old man was about my age he was target practicing one day and his arrow went through the target and he didnt know it but his dog was lying behind it and it killed it, it tore him up awful but he told me it was a good lesson and he was jsut glad there was nobody hiding behind it and so now we always check behind our targes before we shoot.
I cant beleive somebody would shoot a pet on purpose
one more thing 1000 dollars for a vet bill MAN thats steep do you all think? thats one fancy feline

&quot;She said if I hit that fishin hole today, she's be packin all her things and she'd, be gone by noon....I'm gonna miss her, when I get home.&quot;

Actually $1000 for the vet bill is not at all unusual.

Surgery on animals is no small thing.

Sounds like that poor cat needed some serious work to survive his encounter with a dumb animal.

People like that jerk shame us all.

Silent I am not try to pick or start an argument but surely you don't believe that this our fault becouse we didn't educate someone not to shoot at sparky or fee fee. I mean come on this is a moral and ethical situation that any person should know. It's just common decency not to shoot your niehbors dog or cat becouse it's in your trash can. This is a basic moral EVERYONE should have and I doubt that us as bow hunter's saying hey billy bob don't shoot that ladies cat it gives bow hunter's a bad rep would change his mind much either. I agree that he is a piece of dirt for doing this but I hardly think it's any bow hunter's fault.

There's more than one side to this story guys. Now I'm not defending or condoning viscousness or cruelty toward ANY animal let alone a pet of any sort BUT...

I've been asked by the land owner to &quot;take any varmit you see&quot; to which my answer was &quot; Any woodchuck, racoon possum or coyote has my full attention&quot;

He explained he was more concerned about the feral cats. He says he has a heck of a time with them. I tried to be polite and told him I wasn't real comfortable with that as I have 2 for pets. He said he understood, but &quot;Do what you can&quot;.

Now I've seen plenty from my stand, but can't get myself to do it. I like cats. But I can see this going the other way with a different hunter.

Let's not be too quick to judge, there are 2 sides to every story.

Who's to say we're talking about a bowhunter? This could be a 10 or 12 year old kid with a beginner bow set his dad bought him for his birthday and just turned him loose. I say get all the facts, then debate over who to point fingers at.

BUDBOWHUNTER- THE ARROW WAS CARBON(ACCORDING TO THE PICTURE)

LETS NOT LOOSE SIGHT OF THE FACT THAT THIS WAS FRONT PAGE NEWS. WE AS HUNTERS DO NOT NEED THIS TYPE OF MEDIA COVERAGE. DON'T YOU THINK THAT THERE ARE ENOUGH PROBLEMS WITH THE ANTI'S WITHOUT GIVING THEM MORE ARROWS TO FLING AT US.

THE IBO MADE THE RIGHT MOVE IN SAYING THAT WE AS BOW HUNTERS WILL NOT TOLERATE THIS TYPE OF ACTIVITY. I CONSIDER MYSELF A HUNTER, NOT A PERSON THAT LIKES TO HUNT THEREFORE I AM AND WILL ALWAYS PROMOTE THE &quot;ETHICAL&quot; SIDE OF MY LIFESTYLE. IT IS OUR RESPONSIBILITY TO EDUCATE, TO TRY AND STOP THIS TYPE OF BEHAVIOR.

ONCE AGAIN CUDOS TO THE IBO FOR STEPPING UP AND GETTING INVOLVED IN A POTENTIAL MEDIA NIGHTMARE

Don't know where this liberal thinking comes from;but here in N.M. we try and be good neighbors.I don't know about the politics of the IBO,but I have been taught about truth, honesty,ethics and respect of others property. Ol' pooch & kitty become very efficient killers of domestic livestock as well as wildlife after dark. Studies have shown that common house cats have a devastating effect on quail,pheasant,squirrels,rabbits,horny toads,and many domestic birds.
Dogs gone unchecked kill the young of deer,antelope,elk along with sheep, goats,cattle and all fowl;domestic and wild.This is not the pets fault but they must suffer because of an irresponsible owner.
Here your animal will be shot, gone unchecked on public or private lands. Slob owners are very expensive to all of us.Here in the West you won't get your vet. bills paid, you'll be paying damages.If this way of thinking ain't POLITICALLY CORRECT;practice the S-S-S--- Shoot-Shovel & Shut-Up!!!

RE: 1 IDIOT WANNA BE BOW HUNTER

I have no problem with someone shooting &quot;STRAY CATS&quot; that are not collared & are out killing wild game. I have seen many cats kill young rabbits & line them up to be left to rot, they are NOT hunting for food but sport. Was this in the city limits or in the country?? I feel the same about dog's as well.. I know a guy who was having problems with dogs running deer in his timber & reported them to the local DNR Officer who said if they didn't have collars or tags to shoot them.. he ended up killing them & the owner tried to have him arrested for it saying he shot his pets. When he shot them they were not wearing tags, but when the DNR arrived they were. Well, the &quot;pet&quot; owner thought he had the guy in hot water until he supplied them with cam traker photos of the dogs w/o collars.. The guy was removing their collars when he let them out to run. If you ask me, these weren't &quot;pets&quot; but targets!! It's Illegal in the state of Illinois to knowingly let your dogs run deer. I personaly couldn't shoot a cat or dog.. But know someone who will for me!! NOT.. LOL
