On my farm we have only killed one buck with a droptine (it had 3) and only seen one other. It seems that we do however usually kill one buck every year that has split brow tines.
Also the last 2 years we have killed two 12 pointers that had a kicker coming out from the base in the exact same spot, about the same size.

Mexhuntr, beautiful deer! As far as the tar like substance on the ends of drops, I took my 1st buck with a bow this past Sunday, and it had it on both drops, I'll post picture as soon as i get this in digital.

I've personally held a few racks at my taxidermist's place with droptines on them... it's dried velvet that the buck wasn't able to get off.
