While there is certainly some truth in the now infamous Greatest Post Ever thread, it is mostly comedic relief.
Yes, a string loop has it's advantages. First, you are drawing the string DIRECTLY behind the nock so you no longer are pinching the nock when you draw. You get a much cleaner release of the arrow that way. Second, it saves your string. |

Yes the wear will be less to the actual bow string.

Yes it will make your string last longer.
You will also be more accurate. I also like a loop because I shoot short bows (32 - 33" ATA) and the loop eliminates the knock pinch phenomenon. |
RE: is there an advantage to using a String Loop?
will i have to re adjust my sight if i get a loop?
it took me like all summer to get my bow perfect, i hope i dont need to do it again! |

If you plan on hunting with your bow this season, and you've practiced all sumemr long without a loop, don't add a loop now.
Wait until after this season to try one out. I've said it many a time, there is no good reason not to shoot with a loop. Will it save some wear and tear on your string? You betcha. Do you absolutely have to shoot with one in order to be accurate? Nope. |
