First bow kill (CARDEER NECKLACE STRIKES) PICpic

I bagged my first bow kill this evening, a 3 point buck. I would guess his weight to 125-150lbs.
I got to my stand at 1300 this afternoon. Saw turkeys feeding off about 50 yds from me while I was putting up the Lonewolf Climbing sticks. I was in stand by 1330, turks fed by at about 1400. I settle in to read the Hobit.
Fast foward to 1600: I see the first deer of the eve. About 35yds away thru brush it feeds off to the right towards the Missouri river(NE), I lose sight of it about 60yds away. 10-15 minutes later more turks, there is a deer off to my left and behind me, again 30-40 yds away, it continues to feed in that general direction(SW) and I lose sight of it.
1645: I see two does running from the south to north, they cut west approx 30 yds from me. 5 min. later I see two more deer coming from the south, one continues north but mine for some reason decided to come my way. At about 10yds and broad side THWACK, he trots 10yds and stops stands there facing away for what seemed to be forever, maybe 3mins., then turns behind a tree and stops broadside. After another couple of mins. he steps out and gives me a 20yd, broadside shot, I take it. Flag goes up he bounds approx 10yds and stops, it is 1707 and it is getting dark. I here what sounds like something falling to the ground about 5 mins. later. I climb down at 1730, find my first arrow in front of me, it has food particles on it, I think great I gut shot him. I turn towards where the second arrow is and find blood, bright red blood, about 2 paces from where I found the first arrow. I get excited, a few more steps and more blood, heavy bleeding too. There is a great blood trail all the way to the second arrow, it is clean as a whistle. So I start to follow the blood trail and not more than 15yds away there he is fallen over a log and not moving. So I walk up and poke him in the ribs with the arrow, and I know I have done it. The arrow enterd just in front of the front right shoulder and somehow came out thru the neck, that is where the food particles came from, anyway it left a nice blood trail. I had finally gotten my first deer with a bow, it took me three seasons, boy does it feel good!!!!!
Thanks Cardeer for the necklace, I had not been wearing it because of school. I had my Psych rotation this quarter and it is not a good idea to wear any kind of jewlry around the neck. Anyway, today is the first day I had wore it hunting and today was the first day this season that I have seen any deer while on stand, I have seen some while still hunting and while walking in to or from stand but not while on stand. CARDEER NECKLACE ROCKS!!!!!!

I Hope to post pics in a day or two. Finally! Here is the pic.

Nice story, too bad you didn't let that small guy go another year or two. But it's exciting anyway.

I got skunked last year and finally got my Cardeer knecklace this spring. I went out twice this year, first time not wearing it. The second time I put it on and had shot an 8pt 175pound dressed deer by 7:45am. I won't leave home without it now.

PSEMASTER, it was my first, it was the best shoot oppurtunity I have had in 3 years, I did pass on a nice fork horn my first year standing broadside at 20 yds. My hunting time is very limited this year due to work and nursing school so I took the shot. :)
