Anyone shoot Snuffer broadheads?
 

All my traditional hunting buddies use this head and I was wondering how it might work when launched from a compound. Anyone ever try 'em?

I HAVE A BUDDY THAT USED TO USE THEM. HE KILLED DEER WITH 'EM. THEY ARE HEAVY THOUGH. I DON'T THINK YOU HAVE TO WORRY ABOUT THEM BEING DURABLE. I THINK HIS WERE AROUND 165 GRAINS.

I have tested them, and found the flight was pretty good. I found the ones I had to be kind of fragile, in that they bend pretty easy. To Be fair though the ones I tested were made by Delta, and the new ones are now made by Magnus. I plan on getting some of the Magnus heads and retesting them. Those that I have spoken with that use the snuffers realy love them. If you realy want to use a head like the snuffer, check out the G-5 Monotech. It was much stronger than my Delta made snuffers, and accuracy was very good.

I'll go along with 5-Shot's assessment of the Snuffer heads.......I did kill my first buck with one many years ago with my all wood compound. (Browning X-Cellerator Plus):)......so I have a "Sentimental" spot for them in my tackle box, but I quickly retired them.
I found them, (in my infinite teenage wisdom at the time<img src=icon_smile_wink.gif border=0 align=middle>)for lack of a better word, &quot;Soft&quot;.......they bent and squashed and did all kind of funky things.
But as 5-Shot stated, these were the &quot;Old&quot; Snuffers and I understand that they are improved in the Magnus version.
If you insist on trying them, I'd look for this newer version simply based on that company's word that they are better than the old ones.

I have shot a PSE split limb for years with 2413 arrows and 165 grain Snuffers. I have killed 8 or 10 deer with this. Every deer shot was not only fataly wounded, but every shot was a clean pass though. Ribs, shoulder and even the neck vertebra. Upon skinning these deer the damage was phenomenal. Quarter size hole with softball size bruising, very much resembles 20 gauge slug wound. I will shoot these broadheads for as long as they are in production.

I've been using the Snuffer SS for a few years now, the 100 gr., and I have not been disappointed yet. I've shot a few elk with them and only once I didn't get a complete pass through, and on that one I went through the near shoulder and the broadhead was sticking out of the off shoulder.
The bull elk that I shot 3 years ago was 51 yards and the arrow passed completely through him.
I've never not gotten complete pass throughs on a whitetail, and I've shot a bunch of them with the Snuffer SS..
Magnus has made a couple subtle changes to the Snuffer SS recently. You can see a difference in the ferrule, but I'm not exaclty sure what the change did to better the design. They've also been working on getting the broadheads sharper out of the package too.
