My Best Bow Season

I have been bow hunting for 19 years. This was my best season to date. The weather wasgreat most of the time. I put alot of time in stand. The catch is I never even shot at a deer. By best, I mean I saw SO much activity and was able to enjoy watching the deer interact. I did some videoingwhile watching a 5 pt. buck try to be king of the woods while rubbing some small trees at about 5 yards.

I LUCKILY had probably 40-50 deer within bow range. I saw one wall hanger not in range. I have taken my share in those 19 years, but for some reason this year I passed on deer I may have taken a crack at before.

I can't explain why. Who knows, I might even take a shot at my first chance next year. We will have to see. I did get 3 with my gun and donated 1 of them to a food bank. I've always been pretty much a meat hunter and probably still will be in the future. This season was just different.

I still have a late bow season I can do and a weekend anterless gun hunt. But, I'mnot so sure I will be able to anymore hunting. Some people I know think I'm nuts when I tell them about my season being great, even though I didn't harvest a deer. They just don't get it.

Man, can I relate to that! I also had my best season yet without bow shooting a deer. I got a decent gun buck though. I saw a lot of deer and a lot of mature bucks. I had 25 mature buck sightings and this was from 11 different mature bucks. I had 6 good shots present themselves on 5 of them (one twice) and missed one.[&o]Oh well, I'm still trying. It was fun and exciting and I learned a lot. Check out these deer sightings that I compiled.

Greg...I like the charts. It would be nice to look back at the end of each season. Pretty cool.

I think you have too much time on your hands. You must not have kids! Those are really beneficial except mine have been pretty empty this year.

You seem to be really happy with your hunting experience and that is all that counts. That's success in my books.

Yes, except today. I'm back to work now [&o], but I'll be hunting evenings and weekends. Maybe not every day, but when the wind and the weather is right.
