Bowhunting from ground?

Well gun season is over in my zone and I let a nice one get away. I let a nice 8 point get away, while waiting on a better shot. Oh well, its my first year deer hunting and i'll get another chance. i'm gonna bowhunt from the same place for the rest of the season. Only problem is, my climbing stick wont be in untill next week. i drove to 4 sporting goods stores this weekend and couldn't get one. so I ordered it online. Question is, am i wasting my time going out tomorrow morning and hunting this spot from the ground. theres a lot of old logging roads here and I can get a good shot from an above road. I just dont wanna waste a week of the season sitting here waiting on a ladder for my stand. thanks!

It can be done. It's a challenge. I like getting setup right on top of trails that have large trees that have fallen down.

your never wasting time if your hunting, but your chances are slim, but there is that chance.

You could always use a blind

I just started bow hunting this year & my despite being in my stand an hour before sunrise every time, my fist deer was got from the ground at 4:30 pm.
I also let a small buck walk past at 10 YARDS while I sat on a tree stump. That was a more sensational feeling then being in the stand.
But then, having an owl land next to me while in the stand was awesome too!

:Dthis is my opinion but hunting on the ground is the best in the winter season is best for ground use but in the other season hunt from the air you can see that trophey better:D

I bowhunt from the ground (from a natural ground blind)and have a blast doing it. You have to be very concerned about scent and learn how to draw on a close deer. The benefit for the begining hunter is you develope new skills that will help you a firearms/standhunter. Good Luck!
