Nice buck 14mercs!How did you get to take two archery bucks in Illinois?I thought we could only take one with an archery permit,and another with the other weapons seasons? I stand corrected I have been archery hunting the state all these years and allways read this differently.Here is the rule from the DNR:
No hunter, regardless of the quantity or type of permits in his/her possession, may harvest more than 2 antlered deer during a year, including the archery, muzzleloader, and firearm
seasons. For the purpose of this bag limit, deer seasons are considered to be in the same year if their opening dates are within the same 12-month period that begins July 1.[/align]

Great buck and congrats to you sir. I would say it is a good thing your season is over, for the bucks sake...LOL... Plus it would be hard to top that big boy.

In Illinois, you are allowed two bucks either by archery or combination of archery and firearm. I believe that you can do use blackpowder and firearm as well.

As to where the arrow went in, midway between the ribs and the hip. I looked at the entrails and could not find any trauma on the organs. The spray from the pass through had small little specks of white material throughout the splatter. It may have been liver. He ran, stopped and did the old sway step and fell over.

I havea friend coming back this season to hunt again. It will be hard to fathom another buck walking by and having to lay off but... let em go let em grow.... right. I will have to use the layout goose blind while he is in the stand. I suppose I could still wack one more doe and try out the Rage heads I bought. Unfilled tag is a waste when I know several who still want the meat.
