Rut
 

I was just wondering how long the rut usually lasts? Does it depend on the area you are in or what's the deal with that. I guess I just haven't really hunted much after gun season so I have no idea how long the rut is in effect. I was just wondering if it would still be a good idea to use an estrous scent and leave a trail on the way to my stand tomorrow morning...alright thanks.

Is it ever a good idea?;) The "rut" lasts in stages, pre, peak and post. I feel we're coming out of peak here, scents might still work as there may be some loner bucks cruising or late does. I say, why not?

Right on, I just have never tried it and a friend of mine said that the deer have really been responding to scents to our area so I thought I'd give it a shot.
