Sighting in bows
Need a refresher...fixing to start shooting my new bow, and cant remember do I follow the arrow with my pins or move the pins opposite of the way the arrow is shooting.....If I am shooting high, do I move the pins up or down.
Thanks, It has been a couple years since I have shot, and I always get my gun and bow confused. |
RE: Sighting in bows
Follow your arrow, so if your arrow is hitting right, mover your pins right and vice versa. So if your shooting high mover your pins up.

RE: Sighting in bows
Shootin high, move pin up.
Shootin low, move pin down. |
RE: Sighting in bows
Follow your arrow....dont know why I seem to forget that....thanks guys..
One more question, My bow has 3 pins on it...On my old bow I tried to set a 10, 20, and 30 yard pin....but the bow shot flat enough that I could not move the 20 yard pin high enough, it would touch the 10...so my question is how do you utilize the 3 pins...what yardages do you set them at....Do I need to forget about a 10 yard pin altogether and just start with a 20. |
RE: Sighting in bows
I have a 5 pin sight and I set mine for 20, 30, 40, 50, 60. Well really I only use the 20, 30 and 40yd pins. Just forget about the 10yd pin, your 20yd will cover that distance just fine.

RE: Sighting in bows
Depends on your bow and arrow combination but ussually with a 3 pin setup you would use your top pin from 0-20 or 0-25yds. then adjust in 10 yard increments on the other two. alot had to do with personal preference also. |
RE: Sighting in bows
Sounds like you need to move the whole sight assembly up or down a bit. Then you should be able to set all the pins correctly.

RE: Sighting in bows
When I was little, I sighted in my .22 and could never get it!! lol. I always moved my sights towards the Bullseye and not the Bullet hole.
If you dont take an extra 5 seconds to think about it... it does confuse u hah |
RE: Sighting in bows
Follow your arrow....dont know why I seem to forget that....thanks guys.. If you ever adjust the rear sight, like on a rifle with iron sights, it's the opposite. I remember it by the fact that I always follow my arrows downrange when I shoot them (to get them back), but not when I shootbullets. |
RE: Sighting in bows
My pins are set 20-30-40 yds. Using my 20 yd pin at 10 yds. it is only 2 inches high, also you may need to move your whole site up or down to center your pins first.
