Bows are all great
We seem to be all worked up over bows this week.
I own about 4 different brands, and have owned many others. I can tell you I shoot all of them about the same. Some feel better, some look better. I have more confidence in one then I do another. If you buy a highend bow from Mathews Bowtech Hoyt Ross WhisperCreek PSE Martin Elite I am sure there are more, then you have a great bow. Enjoy shooting it, and yes we all like to rib each other on brands. Please take as just some fun between hunters. My favorite bow is still Point Blank, it was my first:) |
RE: Bows are all great
I completely agree. I have owned and used PSE, Hoyt, and Mathews. The only reason I have ever changed brands is because my favorite pro shop at the time I was in the market for a bow carried those brands in that order. My next onw might be a bowtech... who knows. What I do know is that they all shot well enough for me and didn't dislike any of them. Although, the Hoyt and Mathews seemed luckier;)

I killed a lot of stuff with my old bear whitetail II. I can remember going on the local golf course 25 years ago and shooting ground squirrels(squinties) with it. I was a finger shooter back then. One day on this golf course I shot 6 squinties!!! They aren't dumb either and they were all pretty long shots.

I agree, too. I buy constuction equipment all the time, too. It's all good. I might have a feature here or a feature there that would influence a decision.....but I know I'm getting a quality product no matter what I buy.
My next bow might be a Bowtech. Reason....I shot RobPa's....and I shot it well. It also might be a Hoyt. It might be a Ross. It might be a Mathews. I don't have anything against any of them. NOR....do I have any of them giving me deals on their equipment. I've shot Hoyts, Mathews, Browning and Bowtech. I know they're all fine tackle. I just don't like anything good enough to make me switch. Jeff |

Yep i have shot several brands and if i had the money i would be shooting several brands at once right now lol. Like was said, all of the high end bows are sweet to shoot, each just fits different peoples criteria better then the next. Couple of my buddys shoot Mathews and of course i rib them about there "slow bows" lol, but it is all in fun, i know that the mathews will shoot just as accurate and kill just as many deer as my Tribute but you got to have something to rib each other about haha

Thanks Germ for the offer. My buddy still has my old whitetail II and I could get it back from him if I wanted. With their age I would be a little leary of shooting one. Sure appreciate the offer though.

RE: Bows are all great
I own an AR (Archery Research)... which I think (quite sure though) is a branch of PSE. I like my AR better than my old Mathews.
This is the way I see it... The bow is a weapon, made to take a deer. The most useful weapon is your knowledge about the environment and behaviors off deer. I have been more sucessful than my friend who shoots a Mathews using my AR, and he hunts twice as much. Trust me its not all luck. Getting the deer close enough has nothing to do with your bow... unless your bow is made of chrome. It all comes down to how comfortable you are with the bow you want. Like Germ said... those are all companys who make terrific bows. I think people are pressured because years ago, Mathews bows were king because they were in fact made better. But as they always say... go to your local bowPROshop and test them out. |
RE: Bows are all great
I still have my Bear Black Bear II, all my other bows traveled the country when I sold them. One went to Michigan, one to Wisconson and the others I can't even remember.
Of course I shot Hoyt for many years, still love them. When I searched for a new bow, I was impressed with all the bows. All of them, some felt better to ME and I narrowed it down to my Allegiance which SBGobblers did shoot very well, very well! I shot his Switchback very well. All great bows. I wouldn't turn down any of the top bows but when I spend my hard earned money, I spend it on what suits me, nothing more. |
