Have you ever heard a buck "Growl" while hunting?
#11
i have heard my pet buck make that noise a few times. He also make s a different noise when he yawns too.
Another strange noise he make is when i hold the cat up to him and he chews on the cats ears and makes a whineing noise. kinda strange but you learn alot from pet deer.

I heard it this year for the 1st time. I had a big buck with a hot doe fending off a smaller buck. He grunted, growled and snort wheezed at the smaller buck while chasing him and holding an aggressive posture. I watched this for a half hour(mostly within 50 yds)and heard noises I've never heard before.

good poll! (most polls are stupid). i had to say no. but, this year after using my 'buck growl' call, two deer came right in. i shot the doe and when it hit her she made the exact growl sound from the video (which by the way is impossible to make with the call). I never heard a deer make that sound (or maybe I just don't remember them making that sound because there's never been any fuss over it) sort of funny.

Yes, belive it or not the first sound out of a deer that touched these ears was a deep roar. About three years ago nov. 2. I know the date for it was the day i shot that 5pointer, first one. It was a good day!

First time I ever herd it was in 1983, I was hunting a rub line were a bean and corn field met, when a 170 class Buck comes in, makes a scrape, rubs 2 new trees, then walks over and stands 15 yards inside the wood line with the outline of his body broken up by a bush. By this time I was a reck, (not being able to get a shot at him because of limbs). The Buck stood there for probably 10 minutes only raising and lowering his head to get a better view of the bean field when something caught his attention. I looked up to see a smaller, younger buck chasing a doe around about 200 yards away, When the Big Buck let out the loudest, long,URRRRRRP I had ever herd, and took off after the buck and doe in the field at a gate, grunting every other step 5 times, and chased them back into the corn field!4 other times I have herd the "GROWL", 3 were about the same as the first, (Aggressive behavior) except the one last year. My wife had spine shot a buck and when we went back to get it, it was still alive. I had her get in front of the buck to get its attenhion, then I grabed it by the horns ( this is when it "GROWLED")gave it a twist, then threw my body weight on it and broke its neck. I found that werd, but guess itwould alsobe considerd aggressive behavior!

I heard one make the "growl" a couple days ago. It wasn't much of a growl, more like a loud burp.

Four years ago during the rut, I had a 6 point with a huge rack come into my set about a 1/2 hour after a doe had passed through. She had bedded for a while and moved on.
He tracked her into the set and when he got to where she had bedded, he made that odd sound and looked toward the direction she had gone. It was a remarkable sound and I'll never forget it.
I passed on that big 6 and to this day I regret it. I just don't care for how a 6 point rack looks on the wall, but this one was really massive and very tall and wide.

I have but it was on a bad note and not sure if it would attract a deer. I spine shot a buck once and when I got out of my stand he made a sound that was like a growl but I did not enjoy it at all! The sound he made and the way he looked at me I knew if he was to get up I was a dead man! Not sure if its the same as the mating growl that people use but it was a growl!
