First Bow Kill

OK.

So I got my Diamond Liberty for Christmas last year... I really enjoyed shooting and practiced about twice a month over the year.

I set my ground blind out with some corn at approximately 20 yards away. 30 minutes into the season this nice doe walks by and goes to the corn.

I go to draw my bow and... urghh... I can't draw it... I had been clearing brush all day and my arms were so worn out I was struggling. The doe began to stare at me and do the whole snort wheeze, stomp her hoof thing. I finaly got back and full draw and let it fly. The shot was high and towards the shoulder. It stuck into her shoulder, she spun around and fell chest facing me. She was trying to pull the arrow out with her teeth, when I was able to draw the next arrow and place it perfectly into her chest. That arrow went through and traveled approximately 30 more yards past her.

Anyway, some nice freezer meat.

I can't say I am really "addicted" to bow hunting. I am addicted to hunting and anything that enables me to spend more time in the stand is always a positive.

I have to admit I still love rifle hunting. For one you always have the ability to take some varmints, such as coyote, fox, coon, etc. which seldolm come in range for bow. I let a lot of deer pass so I am always looking for something to point my gun at.

I do definately see the challenge in bow hunting though and that doe means more to me then any other doe I have ever shot.

I will probably be buying an excalibur crossbow this year, but as a backup when I have to hunt out of a tree stand, I don't yet feel comfortable shooting my bow out of a tree stand.

Having said all that, I do plan on turkey hunting this spring with my bow!

By the way, I highly recommend Slick Tricks, they did an outstanding job!
