RE: 1st time in the stand SUMMIT CLIMBER
I've taken 3 deer this year with the bow. I had the best buck I've seen in my area at 12 yds, another time. EACH time was my first sit in a particular stand location. I haven't sat in a "same" tree since early Oct.
I have MANY trees I can access with the climber, though. the only thing that's tough is the heat around here in early bow season. It's hard to get up tree with a climber an not get soaking wet. Jeff |
RE: 1st time in the stand
I thought this would be a good thread as Rybo intended it to be.
Some how it turned into a what climber is best thread....??? Sure Summits are great, I could be wrong here but I don't think this was the purpose of his thread though. |
RE: 1st time in the stand
My luck is usually best the first time in a stand. But I think some of it has to do with the fact that I wait until what I consider to be the "best" time to hunt it. Not just wind conditions, but wait for a cold front to come in, waiting until the bucks are starting to chase etc. I killed my buck on the 3rd time in the stand this year, saw a nice one out of it the second time. I've only hunted the stand 5 times this year total.

RE: 1st time in the stand
I killed my buck this year the first time I hunted a new spot. I set it up on a Sunday, waited until Wednesday to hunt it and shot the buck within the first hour I was on stand.
I like when that happens. What I like more is when it happens and then Iend up killing more deer from that same tree as time goes by. |
RE: 1st time in the stand
yea what's up with the advertising. I sold mine for a ol man[8D]
Anyways, my original intent was just to see if others had similar luck. Granted most of the deer in my case were does, and certainly often times hunting those stands I could have shot deer the 2nd, and 3rd times into them. I do feel however that the biggest change I've made to my hunting is waiting for the time to be right for those "1st times in" when focusing on bucks. |
RE: 1st time in the stand
Sorry, my fault. I goofed and said my "summit" when I should have said "climber". My apologies Ryan.
You other guys better knock it off! summitsummitsummitsummitsummit, hehehe. |
