I'm leaving tonight for a 2 night, 3 day caribou hunt in Northern Quebec. It was gonna be gun only but the word is that the herd is nearby so I'm bringing my bow.
I get two tags so I'm gonna make sure that I don't get skunked and take one with the 308 (1st day I hope), if I do I'll take out the bow 2nd day and try for one the hard way. If no luck I'll fill my tag with the gun last day, this trip is just too expensive to come home with an unused tag.

Wish me luck, and yes, I'm taking my camera. I'll post again Sunday 26th.

well have fun and good luck on MY dream hunt since i was 10. i hope to take this trip when i graduate. go get a nice bull and post yur footage when you get back.

Good luck. I've done that trip myself a couple times and have many friends and family who have also done it many times. Timing is everything and if you hit it right you are in for quite the show. My advice is carry both the bow and rifle. There are all kinds of spots to set up an ambush for archery but you may also bump into a real trophy 175 yds away and the .308 will give you the choice of taking it or not. Don't shoot the first nice bull you see and drive carefully up there.

A northern Quebec caribou hunt can be an absoloute blast or it can be one of the most frustrating hunts going.

If the herd is there, you will have no problem, even taking both with a bow. However if the herd is not moving through the area, or worse has just moved through, you would be lucky to see ANY caribou.......hero or zero.

That being said, I was up there during the first week of October and took 2 with my bow.
