Tree Stand: anybody ever fall out of it?

Just bought a Remington Tree stand, and a saftey video game with it.

This is my first hunt, and first tree stand. However after viewing it, I'm almost afraid to get up in it!

Are accidents that common from Tree Stands, and has anybody ever fallin from one?

Yup, I fell 22 feet 11 years ago. I was lucky and just bruised my ego (and shoulder). AWAYS ALWAYS wear an appropriate safety harness.

Yup I fell about 20 feet last year. It doesn't feel good. Wear a safety harness, I feel the harness gives me one less thing to worry about wwhile on stand.

I've dumped myself out twice and had a harness both times. The first time I had too much slack in the line(OUCH) and had to cut myself down. The second time I just crawled back in and &quot;kept Hunting<img src=icon_smile_wink.gif border=0 align=middle>&quot;(Zzzzzzzzz)

Had the seat on a Loggy Bayou cheap seat pop off it's moorings one time, sending me flying. If it wasn't for my safety harness, I'd be in serious pain still. I never used another loggy bayou product again.

Scott, make sure you have a harness on and are tethered from the moment you leave the ground until you climb down and touch the ground again.

I have a system that works flawlessly for fixed position stands. Shoot me an email and I'll explain it to you. Its simple, easy, and about as foolproof as you can get.

And yes, I fell. Only about 8 or 10 feet but that was enough for me. I will not climb without a harness now.

Everyone thinks it happens to the &quot;other&quot; guy.

Two years ago I fell 22ft and let me tell you its no fun laying at the bottom of a tree looking up. I was wearing a safty belt that didn't hold,now all I will use is a five point harness.

One time I was a little anxious to go hunting, and got into my stand at around 4:00 in the morning. It was real icy out and extreamly cold. I got in my stand and kind of &quot;glazed over&quot; for a few hours, kinda like being half asleep. I felt somewhat warm but I couldn't feel my fingers. I took my gloves off and saw my hands were dark red and blue. My legs were numb and grey. I had to kind of jump out of my stand since I couldn't climb. It was close to the ground, 10 feet or so. I landed with a muffled thud, and still couldn't feel my legs. I crawled about 250 yards back to my truck. I pulled myself in and turned the heater on to warm up for about two hours before I left for home. It wasn't all that bad untill I started warming up, I felt like my skin was on fire and my legs were sore for a week afterwards. A scary experience to be sure.

&quot;Hey ya'll, watch this&quot;

RE: Tree Stand: anybody ever fall out of it?

Question, I am currently using a safety strap (not harness) that I realy love. It allows me adjustments to be made inbetween me and the tree. Sometimes, I really need this adjustment if you are hunting from a big tree and need that little extra length between you and the tree.

However, I do see the importance of using a harness type system. Does anyone make a harness system that would allow me to adjust the strap that would go between me and the tree? So far, I have not seen one.
