Expensive Harvest!

Enroute to bow hunt last Monday morning, the 13th, when I had this roadwayencounter with a very large doe at 5:30 a.m. She weighed just under 200#. Let's see.....$4,500damageplus $135 processing fee plus $20 in gas divided by 200# equals $23.28 per pound. That is if I can consume her in her entirety...how long do you have to boil hooves before they're edible?

That's $4,500 worth of damage? Looks to be all cosmetic, tell me it threw it out of alignment or something.

In any case, thats definitely a bummer. Hell of a way to get your deer.

I had $2000 worth on my little convertible years ago and I was driving 15 mph. It sucks big time but now you know why the Anti's don't have a chance to cut off hunting. Go shoot a dozen to bring your cost down.

29 minutes, but no more than 32, they just melt and fall apart after that.......

When I lived in Kansas I watched a doe running accross a 1000 yard field at an angle, as theshe got closer to my truck Im thinking to myself, she's going to hit my truck! I slowed down, so did she, I sped up, so did she! This went on 3 or 4 times till I slamed on the breaks, She hops the fince and plows right into the passanger door. Now Im setting there with my mouth hanging open, when she gets up, hops back over the fince, and runs back accross the 1000 yard field, and disapeers into the same spot she had come out of! I wont bother telling you the words that shot out of my mouth next, but it was not pretty!

Get rid of that Jap Crap and buy some real Iron! That thing would have hit my F-350 right in the front pumpkin. Not the grill.

$4500?!?!?!?! That is Crazy! All you need is a hood, that trim below the hood, the hood latching mechs, and a frontbumper! You can go to the stealership and have them sell you those parts for less then that. Plus then all the parts would match your original paint!

I agree with the others. That is a mighty expensive repair. I would definitely get another quote.

A friend of ours had hit a couple of deer and was aware that where there is one there is liable to be more. She's driving along and sees a deer cross ahead of her aways so she stops to make sure it is ok and gets broadsided. If she would have kept going the deer would have missed her completely. Now thats bad luck.

The $4,500 damage was MY estimate....I just received a call from the body shop and the REAL total is $5,136. It got into the radiator/AC and some of the hoses. The really bad thing is I have a $1,000 deductible on my insurance.
