Question about Nocturnal deer
I have two pieces of land in different parts of GA. on one of them if you drive around the land or hunt over a food plot in daytimethe odds are pretty strong that you will see a deer. however on our other piece we drive around all the time and hunt a pretty solid amount but rarely see deer. we have sat cameras on foodplots and they will not come out into them during daylight hours. it seems like we cannot get pictures of deer during daylight. in this area people hunt with dogs and there are more coyotes and bobcats. could this be the reason for them being nocturnal and what do you think i should do about it to see more deer. thanks for any help.

RE: Question about Nocturnal deer
Yep, pressure and heat will keep them nocternal. From my expeirence, the mature deer will only stop their nocternal activity when the rut is on, or when resources push them to move during the day. Best bucks will be seen during the rut, or late winter when they have to move more to find resources. If the deer have what they need and can get it at night, they will not move much during the day.

RE: Question about Nocturnal deer
Yep, wait it out for the rut!

RE: Question about Nocturnal deer
find out where they are bedding and go jump them up. Then get your a$$ in the stand the next day. If you jump a mature buck off bed he will stay moving in the day for at least a couple days. This does work, but dont attempt it until the rut is over.

RE: Question about Nocturnal deer
Are they bedding on your land? If not, you may want to provide some secure cover for them to bed in.
