RE: Who hunts with the oldest bow?
i use a WH600 Darton-1 is around 15 years old & the other is 9. I am using the 9 year old now & took a Elk, Whitetail, Wild hog & fallow Buck this year. I missed a P&Y Buck yesterday & a Tom Turkey this Morning-the bow is working fine-the nut behind it is slipping a little. This is my 45th year of Bowhunting only-never fired a gun at a Biggame animal yet. I have taken two P&Y Black Bears, 1 P&Y Caribou and I really don't know how many Whitetails with these two bows. Oh, I have taken over a Dozen Mule Deer with darton also.
I have used Rocky Mountain Razor 3 blades since Robert Barrie started producing them. Good luck to all this season no matter what your quarry. always thankful |

1953 Bear Kodiak Hunter Recurve Serial#872165 AMO-60" 45# Has killed it's share of deer & other critters.. lol Had to retire it this year though, it has developed a crack that runs from the front of the grip clean threw to the back side or the grip.

RE: Who hunts with the oldest bow?
texastracker I thought I hunted with the oldest compound, but I see a few have me beat now. It is a Bear, Black Bear, it is retiring since I got my first bowkill this year, I can justify to myself buying a new one! Don't get me wrong the old girl shoots fine, but I think I might enjoy a few of those bells and whistles these other guys keep talking about, you know the heated hand grips, the built in scent dispensors!

RE: Who hunts with the oldest bow?
Let me scrape a couple layers of mud and blood off it and I'll see how old it is. Not really... I purchased a Darton a couple years ago to replace a 7 year old PSE. Before that I had hunted nearly 20 years with the same PSE Lazer Magnum. The Darton could have as many notches in it as the Lazer Magnum in another year or two. If I delighted in having the oldest I'd buy another recurve.

RE: Who hunts with the oldest bow?
My old bow is probably going to take the cake on this one. I don't even know how old it is. It's a bear variable compound with fiberglass limbs and 2 plastic wheels and a wooden riser. The only identifing mark is a brass circle on the riser with the Bear Logo on it.The limbs are covered in camo tape so they may be covering up the model numbers. Ok, scratched off some of the tape and it's a Brown Bear model but still don't know how old it is. Anybody got any ideas?
Ok, now I found the serial number, GB-04442. Any one know how to look it up to find out when it was made? KEEP IT LEGAL. KEEP IT SAFE. OR WE MAY NOT GET TO KEEP IT AT ALL. Edited by - budbowhunter on 11/26/2002 09:27:49 |

It would seem most of you buy a new bow every year or so. Just wondering does anybody hunt with an older bow? Mine is a 12 year old PSE. I have had no problems with this bow. How old is yours?

I use a Browning Cobra compound. Mass weight is two (2) pounds. It is basically a recurve bow (wooden riser and limbs made from one piece of wood, well, laminated) with wide limbs and wheels installed in the ends. |
