RE: Hoytgirl scores a big Iowa Giant!!!
Another wonderful husband to thank for introducing a wonderful woman into the sport of bowhunting! YAY! Kudos to you HCH!
I've read many of your posts, I haven't replied much, but I wanted to say I can relate to every aspect of your hunting "relationship". My husband has introduced me into hunting with a shotgun, muzzleloader, and now bow. I have taken all three of my deer with a different weapon each time. I LOVE the rush of bowhunting, even when I miss, it's awesome to have such a beautiful animal so close to me.
Hoytgirl, that buck is magnificent! I am proud of you! Chalk another one up to women and our nerves of steel! LOL After dealing with our kids all day, sitting in a stand and keeping calm whena deer walks within range is a piece of cake!
As a family that hunts, I think you guys (being so photogenic) should do the same thing we intend on doing next year for our Christmas photos... all matching camo and Santa hats! It would make a beautiful picture for such a beautiful family as yours!
Whitetail... keep your eyes and ears open on this forum for other hunters close to your area. I am sure they would love to meet up with you and hunt with you if possible. As for your poundage and whatnot, don't sweat it, if it's legal to hunt with and you are capable of hitting your target accurately, it doesn't make a hoot of difference! I was shooting 50 at the beginning of the season, once it got colder and I had to wear more clothes, I had to crank it back as well. I'm probably at 45 now or something like that.
I am still learning as well, even the most experience hunters will learn something new every year. It's a constant learning experience!
