Nice Illinois Buck
 

I was in my stand withabout an hour left to huntwhen this fella walked up from the down wind side of me straight under my stand then started to quarter away to my right. He stopped about 15yds out giving me a nice shot. I put the pin just behind his ribs on the right side and the arrow came out just behind his left side front leg. he didn't go more than 50yds and fell over. I'm stoked to say the least, he has an 8-pointmain frame with 3 kickers makinghim an 11-point.

All and all a great afternoon hunt, my sister-in-law killed a doe and a small buck (her first bow kills!!)and my brother-in-law shot a nice doe. I was seeing deer 5min after getting into my stand. I saw a few that I was tempted to shoot but I knew there were a few big fellas hanging around and since it's still early here in Illinois I let a few walk.

Thanks all. It was definitely a good afternoon hunting. I am more happy for my sister-in-law than anything. She started bow hunting last year and shot at three different deer and missed them all! She put alot of time in at the range this off seasonshooting and understanding her equipment and how it worked. It payed off big time for her.

Small world Bigj12 I have spots in franklin,Kane and used to hunt Johnson.I'll be hunting my uncles in Franklin later this week.I live in Kane co but originaly from Franklin.

Small world indeed, I have done alot of Quail hunting in Franklin county. I too am going down this week (to Hardin for the gun season) My family owns some land in the Shwanee National Forest.

Good deal,My brother used to own land in the shawnee also(The towne of Goreville)right across from the beautiful Ferne Cliff State park.Wonderfull area.I have taken jquite a few deer from that area.

I know that area, I've hunted near New Burnsidebefore...small world.I'm going to be hunting near Karbers Ridge for the gun season about45min due east of that.

What a nice post to wake up too this morning out west. It's a little after 4 a.m. here and I sat down to sip a cup of coffee, check my weather report for hunting after work today.... I saw your post; hadn't heardmuch from you asof lateand thought wow! Great buck BigJ, I am reallyhappy for you and your entire family there! Great photos as well! I appreciate the kind words....

being 6'4" and 325lbs and wearing a size 58 tall jacket, sometimes the deer don't look too big with me in the photos LOL:DI will score him when I get the mount back from the taxi but I took some measurements, he has a 19.5in inside spread and 22in main beams G2's are 9 1/2 so he should score pretty well. I didn't get a live weight but he went202lbs field dressed so I'm guessing 230-240lbs on the hoof.
