How do you get to full draw when you have a deer within range?
I'm kind of new to bowhunting, I've figured out how to get the deer within bow range, but every time I begin to draw my bow the deer looks up at me and I freeze. Should I just continue drawing my bow even though the deer is looking at me; if not how do I draw thebow without the deer seeing me.
p.s. My bow isvery silent when I draw it back. |

Wait until the deer lowers its head or its head goes behind something.

Welcome to Huntingnet.
Try to draw when he isn't looking in your direction. Deerhave a lot of rods in their eyes that are GREAT for picking up contrast and movement. Draw when his head goes behind a tree or anything that momentarily will obscure his vision. Learning to time itcan take a bit of practice. Also, in my experience, if you must draw when you can see his eyes, do it when his head is down. If he picks up the movement, he'll bring his head up to look straight at you. You'll buy yourself an extra second to shoot while he repositions himself to get a good look at you. |

Also, try to draw with your bow pointed straight at the deer. This will provide the smallest change in your appearance from his point of view as you move. They can pick up lateral movements very well, especially if they are not moving themselves.

A good treestand location and good camouflage allow me draw when I want to draw and not when the deer dictates. The worst thing in the world would to have one walk in and walk away and not having the opportunity to draw.
If one can't point your bow at your target and draw straight back, then one is pulling too much poundage. |

ORIGINAL: ABarOfSoap go ahead and pull back when hes looking at you, havent you ever noticed how deer freeze, hes not going to run untill he thinks hes in danger. I want the deer to know I am in the area when my arrow is blowing through him[8D] Learned ability in time you will just know. My setups are setup to help me draw my bow. I always have tree right before my shoooting lanes so I can draw. |

HOw high are you? How open up in the tree are you? Sometimes you can't always only beable to draw when thier heads behind a tree. Stand placement, camo and drawing only needing to pull straight back are key.
